I hope they can keep him... merely asking him to stay won't suffice.
He clearly indicated that he would like to stay with bikes and up to the age of 34 or 35, so it's Yamaha that have to act.

Yes because Rossi and Burgo brought all the refining technology from Honda to the M1 yam that Checa and Biaggi (again very beaten from the Doohan days)developed but people wont see that scam hay morgue

Valentinos Yamaha debut at Welkom was the first time a Champion has changed teams and won on his debut, but it was IMO truly the greatest of all his great rides, this was Casey at Laguna, Jorge at Barcelona and all the other great races rolled into one, time after time he outbrakes Biaggi and ultimately wins through sheer determination, no other rider has ever come close to Rossi.

Rossi going to Yamaha was the best thing ever to happen in MOTOGP, it meant we are being treated to Vintage years that will probably never again be matched, risk taking Sportsmanship no other will dare try.

It is the rider not the bike. Rossi 1 Honda 0.

Yamaha are doing what is right by Valentino they are giving him credit where it is due, For his part Valentino has given Yamaha due credit for what they have done.

Go back a few years to Honda " It is the bike not the rider and if Rossi leaves us he will never win again "

Yam is loosing business big time. Honda is doing better in the mid of global recession without Rossi. Isn't Rossi supposed to sell more bikes? Furusawa will try to retain Rossi at any costs. He believes Rossi solves any problems even Yam's red books. Keep relying on him and purse your dream of winning another championship with him. After he finally retires, see what is left of them. I do not like the manufactures showing no respect to riders, but Yam, especially Furusawa is too much. If the top of motor division is such a Rossi worshiper, no one can say anything negative about him. Everything he says or does is absolutely right.

It is almost impossible for me to imagine motorcycle racing without Rossi. Very very difficult to think that he could just walk away from it. It's in his blood and I suspect that if he quit after next year he would end up coming back.

I suspect that if Rossi wins the WC next year he will stay on, if he loses he will quit. I would like to see Rossi do some seasons on a Ducati to round things off. Italian world champ on an Italian bike would be a fairytale.

Vale was shat on big time by Honda, (read his book for details) they didnt deserve him, and certainly didnt realise just how imporatant to any team he was, and still is, the day he retires from racing will be a sad day for all race fans, including those who dont like him, i never liked foggy, but he had a similar effect on WBSK, which was missing once he retired.

@FJR, I think Rossi probably played up his disagreements with Honda because he wanted to change brands, both to show up Biaggi and prove he wasn't just winning because of the Honda. It always looked to me like Rossi engineered his dispute with Honda to provide him with an excuse to leave.

@waz. cant agree with your comment, he was on a winning bike, so even somebody with his talent would be very brave to manufacture the move to a team with a far below par bike, honda were, and still are very arrogant, remember the Stalkers days on the V twin where they told him what settings to use, and wouldnt allow any changes. Another comment about bike sales, i think you will find the Yamaha 125 four stroke (not sure of the model name) is one of the best selling bikes of the year, in the UK.
