Why wouldn't they be missed, they are both frontrunners...world class acts in their own right !!? Moto2 and Elias will be a spectacle, trust me...watch him throw that thing around with the very limited electronic input.

it's a shame that it looks like neither of these two will be riding in the premier class next season

Neither of them are worthy of a ride and they only have themselves to blame.
They only start riding when it's contract time and this time gresini went with another option

Toni will impress in Moto2 if he does decide to go there and then a few teams from MotoGP might come calling for his services.

Who got the Scot spot if not DeAngelis?

Who cares about seventh? I dont. Championships greater than Race wins greater than podiums. Thats all that matters. Saying you're going to "secure" any place less than 1st is silly.

The TEAM cares, the sponsors / backers care...There is an order of merit with nigh on all professional series, the 'merit', amongst other things, being what the organising body is contracted to pay your team upon completion of the season...7th pays more than 8th, it's rather simple and, I'd be certain to state, aids immensely expecially in times of economic strife. It can be the difference between being able to maintain a presence in the following season or not. Worth fighting for !

The Scott spot goes to Aoyama, probably the next (and last) 250cc champ.
