why does everyone think that the electronics will be eliminated or different on the 990s if they come back?
when was the last time technology took a step backwards?
id love to see it, love to see a guy have a chance to catch up as opposed to being limited by electronics, or engine allocations etc, i just dont think we will see the day.

I truly beleive that if Dani can stay fit and come into qatar next year for the start of the 2010 championship that he can bridge the gap to winning more races - which is after all - all he needs to win the championship. at the end of this season he flew and was on the podium for the last 5 or six races getting better and better until he got the win he strove for. But theres's alot of work to do from Honda as well, what Dani has done on that bike this year is as good -(in my opinion) as it was gonna get.
OK so maybe Valentino could have won more but he's the God if racing for bloody hells sake.

If Honda make something a bit special and Dani stays fully fit i think he's gonna be CHAMPION

I agree stratkat - now that the companies know how to do this or that with the electronics, they'll just apply it to the 990's as well. If they do go back to the 990's they will need to increase fuel tank size as well, because the smaller tank is also partly to blame for the dullness of the 800's. With the smaller tank plus the eletronics they make the bikes engines start out strong, and then lean them out as the race goes on to ensure that they make it to the flag. I think that is probably one of the main reason there are less battles at the end of the race, because all the bikes are in fuel conservation mode.

990's no fuel restriction and no rider aids please, as for Danny the boy is loaded with talent but to lift the crown he is going to have to win a race by fighting for it. Not just when he runs off with it, i carnt remember anytime he has won a fight with Rossi or Stoner.

There is also the issue of tires, there's light years difference between what they're using now compared to 2006.

Jerry Burgess was asked about going back to 990cc engines earlier this year, he said

"A lot's changed since then, big improvements to tires and electronics, I think we would end up with pretty much what we have now except the bikes would be going 20km/h faster at the end of the straights"

Now JB is as good at mind games as anyone, maybe he was only saying this because the 09 Yamahas were so competitive(keep the status quo) who knows?

IMO, a start would be larger engines and unlimited fuel carrying capacity
