Hey, the statistics are not entirely correct! That's another miss... They forgot Troy Bayliss as a 2003 rookie with Ducati! He took three podiums that year.

Crash.net: The stats are for riders still racing.

"I hope to grow step-by-step, race-by-race and get some good results during the second half of the season.”

Well I like this statement better than talking about looking for grip. Marcos will be fast.

My biggest concerns about Simoncelli are crashing and punting people around.

Very optimistic.Considering this is the first year Sic wont have a full factory support. Both factory riders and Melandri will indeed outperform him. His struggle will be with Aoyama. It wouldnt surprise me Sic standing last of riders on the honda.

"Sorry to break the news to you but Sic will be nowhere near Spies."

The hype around Spies is getting a little bit much. His WSBK year was phenomenal, dont get me wrong, and his wild card ride at Valencia was impressive. Though he was basically on a factory Yamaha, with no engine restrictions, hence no detuning measures that even Rossi and Lorenzo may have been bound by.

There's this idea in some quarters that he's instantly going to wipe the floor with the 250 graduates and make the fantastic four into a fearsome five. Believe me, it wont happen. Guaranteed. He's extremely good, but if he's in such a different league to the others, he'd have been in MotoGP a long time ago.

Marco has a great shot at rookie of the year but it's not gonna be a walk in the park, for any of them, the talent pool is too deep fot that.
Honda have poached and replaced key team personnel and outsourced electronics and suspension for the 1st time, they've always had fast, reliable motors which helps them with the new 6 engine rule and also have a year on Bridgestones now. Rumour has it the sattelite bikes spec. will be a lot closer to the factory ones this year. It's easy to make them 'outsiders' for the title behind Yamaha and Ducati because of Vale, Jorge and Casey but they look serious about trying to stop the rot..

Didn't Toseland finish 6th on his debut? I realize he's no longer in MotoGP, but he should be mentioned. Maybe change the list to finishes withing the past decade, as Toseland would have been relevant to the discussion.
