We won't know if the series will be better until they start racing but how can Simoncelli say it won't cost less? There are no $1.5 million leased bikes that the teams have to give back at the end of the year and pay the same amount the following year. From what I've read the highest price chassis was the Aprillia at around $250,000 but they are not being produced. The other chassis are around $75,000-$100,000. Whatever the cost of the engine lease it still wouldn't be as high as a top Aprillia. And theoritcally a team could run the same chassis for a couple of years so they wouldn't have that cost yearly and/or could sell it to another team. Unlike the lease which is a yearly expense.

"I don't know if Moto2 will be cheaper... I've never raced one... but they are CRAP!"

Ignorance is bliss... oh no it's not, it's just bloody stupid!!! :?

Not sure what Marco is thinking but maybe he's implying that the 250's have progressed for so many years that they are a better package at the moment. Oh well, I'm looking forward to Moto2 due to the large field of riders like WSB

oh why didn't somebody come to interview you idiots putting useless comments? oh yes because you don't know a **** all, and write bullshits of comments...
moto2 will not be cheaper, and yes sure you can run a chassis for 3 years... that will be cheap... so the could also use a tz 250 from 2003 and that would have been even cheaper.. ops but this is the world champion and everybody is there for winning!!!!

and you keep saying 1.5 million for a leased bike... because some useless on tv said that... so everybody now keep saying that.
so i repeat for 100 time which is the truth, 1.5 million they give you 2 RSA official, complete forniture of spare parts for the season, free engine rebuild every times needed.. then other stuffs i don't remember, anyway that is a package complete the guarantee a chance of winning the championship.
if you want a privateer aprilia just itself you can get it for about 90 000 euro which is even less then a crappy cbr moto2
so now start to put all together for a moto starting with more than 100 000 euro for a competitive one, spare bike.. spares fuel tyres...so far off?

Cry me a river Argentina. You can buy a nice 250 Honda in the states for 15k with spare everything. Wheels, pistions, crank, cylinders, gas tank, glass. The works. We have Aprillia to thank for the 250's deminse in my opinion. We are talking about a 2 cylinder, 2 stroke motor. I just does not get any simpler, easy to work on and cheaper. Unless you are talking about a single cylinder 2 stroke.

The 250 class was supposed to be a feeder series that opened the way for guys to move up to MotoGP. Should not cost 2 or 3 million dollars to go 250cc racing.

I still love the smell of bean oil. But hey greed killed the golden goose on ths deal.

um fabbio

So we comment and we're idiots but you comment and you're brilliant, huh? Yeah right.

why didn't everyone run out and get the top of the line Aprillia package that was capable of winning? Why was it only a handful of riders with that package? Why wasn't the grid full like it's going to be now?

Could it be that it was too expensive?!

And now someone with a small budget can have the SAME ENGINE as the top guys instead of a slower private Aprillia or TZ.

Is that not more cost effective? Does that not even the field a bit for the less funded?

Everyone keep saying it cost $1.5 million because that's what's ALWAYS reported in the press and on motorsports sites.

How dare you post what has been reported and not what Fabbio says. Are you an idiot?

I couldn't tell you how much it costs to build a WSS 600, but I'm pretty confident that 1.5 million would buy one bad Mfing bike.

I also enjoy how Fabbio called the moto2 bike crap. I wonder how many times he's ridden one?.........but were all idiots here anyway......
