MotoGP » Stoner 'has already decided to go', fears Ducati

As speculation over the MotoGP 2011 rider merry-go-round increasingly gathers pace, a well-informed Ducati Marlboro source concedes that 2007 world champion Casey Stoner 'has already decided' to switch to Repsol Honda next year

The lure of winning in the premier class on an Italian bike in an Italian team must appeal to Rossi for years. He loves a challenge so my prediction is Vale will ride a Ducati in 2011. Unless Jorge signs for Repsol Dani will stay put, he has been the fastest Honda rider in recent years and I see no other Spaniard except for Jorge performing better. Spain, Repsol, Dorna, Jerez, Valencia, Barcelona, the factory Honda team will have a Spaniard challenging for the win.

As for Yamaha, surely they have not forgotten who made this 'lame' bike work again. Every rider will want to ride the Champion's bike. Watch the number of Ducs in the field grow as soon as Rossi / Burgess go to Ducati.

I agree with Rawdog. Crash could have just asked anyone of us armchair racers and we could have come up with that load of BS. (fecal matter)

As for next years musical chairs, I don't think the predictions being made are entirely off the mark, but I do think some are going to be surprised by what the end result turns out to be.

It would indeed be interesting to see Rossi go to Ducati. For one thing he and Nick would be teammates again. I think for Nick, he thought that he would get to learn from Rossi his first year. As it turned out, he never ran close enough to him to do so.

As for Repsol, they ran 3 bikes for several seasons in the past. Maybe they plan to do so again. I doubt it tho.

I don't know who would end up going if they decide to run the current 2 bike format. On 1 hand Dani had years of 100% of the resources going to a bike designed to fit him and he's done little with that. Then as has been pointed out, he's also the only who's been able to ride it (makes sense it was built for him)

On the other hand, Dovi is a young guy, has done well with the resources he's been given. I think that he's put up with much the same stuff Nick did and getting on the box ahead of Dani is his way of poking Dani and Puig in the eye. I think he'd find it sweet revenge to be chosen to partner Stoner.

Stoner on the Honda? With all the stability issues? Can you say crashapottamas?

2011 Prediction
Surely the team that produces the 2011 WC would do all they could to secure another contract, and in the past only Rossi was brave enough to jump camp as a current WC.But i doubt at his age he would do that again.Only 3 races down but odds are a Yamaha rider will be 2011 WC.

Rossi 2011 WC to stay at Yamaha + Simoncelli
Lorenzo 2011 WC runner up to join Ducati with Hayden
Stoner 2011 WC second runner up Honda + Pedrosa .

Fact is stranger than fiction :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

@Kirk66 I know its not exactly what you were referring to but from AU in GP over the last 5 years:

Troy Bayliss - 3rd and 2nd in AU SBK Championship, you know the rest :)

Chris Vermeulen - 7th in AU SBK Championship.

Andrew Pitt - AU Supersport Champion and AU SBK 2nd place.

Then there are the guys who never competed in road racing in AU but went straight to Europe and 125cc.

Anthony West - Never competed in AU SBK Championship.

Casey Stoner - You know the rest.

All very interesting......

I think that if Lorenzo goes to Ducati I for one would not be surprised to see them give his ride to
Marco Simioncelli, after all Rossi and Marco seem to get on pretty well and Rossi would not be threatened by Marco.

Just a thought

Firstly if Casey has signed for Honda then i will be disappointed, he is the only ride other than Loris to win on a Ducati in the 800 era. As for who will leave Honda, i think it will be Dovi, Repsol will want Dani to stay. I think Ducati will need a "Alien" on the bike to win, but i don't think Rossi will go to Ducati unless Nicky starts getting on the podium regularly, that will prove to VR that the package will work. And then Marlboro will ask him to name is price. I don't think Lorenzo's ego would sit well at Ducati, but like i said Ducati will need a Alien so Jorge is second best choice. I think Yamaha will give Spies a factory ride. Loris back on a Ducati.. And Dovi on the Suzuki.

So this is what i think for 2011...

Ducati - Rossi & Hayden.
Yamaha - Lorenzo & Spies.
Honda - Stoner & Pedrosa.
Pramac Ducati - Capirossi & Espargaro.
Suzuki - Dovizioso & Bautista.
Tech 3 - Edwards & De Puniet.

But in my heart i would love to see Casey stay on the Ducati. Come on Casey stay, it's not all about money...

the only thing i dont want to see is if nicky keeps up the good showing, is for him to lose his ride and or having peewee somehow end up at duc with him. its nice watching him get better for once.

anything else would make for a good story line for next year.

with all this talk of how spies can or shouldn't secure a factory ride next year, how can anyone think simoncelli should or could have a factory ride in 2011? seriously? there is no reason for any factory to hire this clown for his services.

next year, jorge, stoner, dovi, shift factory rides. edwards is done. melandri gets a factory or tech 3 ride. pedrosa, rossi, hayden, de puniet stay put. elias returns in a satellite team. spies goes to factory yamaka.

the rookies will get one more year.

no haslam, crutchlow or rea. but maybe we will see additional teams building-up the grid.

anyway, lots of change is on the way. good stuff. look out
