This is his first season. And you guys do realize we're only four races in, don't you? There is still plenty of time for Spies to show what he's made of.

IMHO, I don't really see Spies getting a podium finish this year - I predict fourth at best - unless he has it gifted to him by attrition, or the weather evens out the competition.

I say this only because of the condition the competition is in, and not because I doubt his ability.

He is definitely capable of running with/behind the aliens, though. He showed us that in Qatar as he was only 3.9 seconds behind the race winner, Rossi.

He's a highly motivated and extremely talented rider. Given the right tools who knows what he could do.

Great ride by Pedrosa, smart rides by Lorenzo and Dovi,

Stoner back to riding like he was in the 250's (if you don't have the bike, make your moves on the last lap so they don't have time to get past you again)

Good ride by Spies

Hayden ...well he doesn't normally fall unassisted ...and Kallio, didn't he lose the front as well?

I don't think there's been more two Ducati's finish a race this season.....and they're all front end loses....there's got to be a problem there

Agree that maybe Rossi wouldn't have been able to keep up with Dani. When the bike setting is good and he can get away early, Dani is really fast. He has proved it several times already.

I'm surprised that nobody notice that Ducati switched their riders' bikes. From now on Hayden will loose his front end and Stoner will be 4th.

Can't believe the she it I read about posts bagging Pies. I'm one of the ones that talked him up as one to watch along with a lot of other posters.
WTF 4th race and every one is pissed with his efforts. Tell you what, one of the things that works in everyone else's favour is track knowledge. Next track he will be on par with everyone. On that performance base your criticism, until then he has done a great job for a rookie. Don't forget he's on a sat bike also. 1st time in SBK on tracks he's never been on and kicks Haga's ar$e when everyone agreed Haga couln't loose. Wins world title. Haga hasn't been the same since, so he knows. Snap out of it knockers, its early days.

I really don't want to talk about Spies... I REALLY don't, but since many people want to nit-pick:

A lot of people have unrealistic expectations from Spies. Americans and Europeans alike. He finshed 7th on a track he had only spent 3 hours on previously. EVERY OTHER RIDER has spent numerous FULL weekends in GP or supporting classes. 7th is a respectable result. It was obvious he wasn't using the quickest lines, but he's leaning and did well given the circumstances.

So Silverstone will be the real indicator of Spies talent? Maybe but I'd expect another mid-pack finish and then the fan boys telling us that Laguna will be the real test ... blah blah blah.
The big advantage Spies had starting the season was being on a Yamaha which is clearly the best package. Now that Honda are starting to improve, and with Rossi no longer developing the M1 I think we'll see Ben continuing to struggle mid-pack and then the fanboys can start blaming the bike for holding him back.
