Colin Edwards, Ben Spies, Cal Crutchlow, James Toseland... Who do you think should get a shot at joining Jorge Lorenzo?

Doesn't matter how many races Spies has been in he's entered this year as a 'rookie' and he CANNOT change his status part way through. If that were the case then there would be no rookies by year end, no 'rookie' of the year etc. Spies is a 'rookie' until 2011 no matter what he does.

Yamaha have said they will wait 2 races before contractually having to replace Vale.........just enough time to ensure Spies is no longer considered a rookie as by then he will have completed 6 races in 2010, plus the 1 for Yamaha in 2009 & the 3 Suzuki outings, making a total of then :) Cal will then be offered the Tech3 ride.....Obvious :)

With Rossi out of Silverstone I think the organisers need a big name or a Brit to replace him so the only man I think of with experiance is JT for a one off ride and then I would love to see Bayliss on it for a few races.
More to the point this will effect next years contracts , will Lorenzo be yamaha's number 1 for next year now Rossi is sidelined for a bit ??
And another thing , scrap this rookie rule !!!!

I'd think Spies will do two more races on Tech3 (might be Rossi's bike, but in Tech3 colours). Then switch to Fiat since he will be at 9 races (unless the rules states 9 races at beginning of season), until Rossi returns.

Crutchlow I think *could* ride for Tech3 straight away, because he is not a fulltime MotoGP rider, he would be classified a wildcard. I don't think they will give him that seat though, unless maybe for the two races Spies is still in Tech3.

Well this should be an interesting thread.

How many pages will it get up to today?

Anyway, today I'm going to side with Julian Ryders opinion and say Yuki Takahashi from Tech 3 Moto2 will replace the Tech 3 motogp guys if one of them replaces Val. Yamaha may not want to jeopardize the WSBK points and team standings over there by drafting in JT or Cal. If they get hurt it's a double bogey for Yamaha.

I'm sure Dorna and Silverstone organizers want JT suited up immediately. The marketing guys would definitely love it.

Max Biaggi
MotoGP isn't as exciting as it used to be. Max had a good relationship with Yamaha in the past. It would be fantastic to see him on Valentino's bike since he is currently at the top of the world superbike standings. It would bump up viewership if he took that bike for a race or 2.

I know a lot of people will disagree but if I were Yamaha boss I would call JT. Yes, dude had disastrous last season but this year he's made some good races, though he's had some bad luck. More important that he has MotoGP expierence and with a bit of luck can turn it around and show some good results.

Colin is expierenced but this year is cr@p for him so far. Don't think he'll get a call.

Ben is good but unexpierenced and I think it's better for him to stay at Tech3 and learn a lot of new things with his crew.

Crutchlow's arrival would be pointless. He has no expierence at all and right now it's better for him to put efforts in WSBK I think.
