Colin Edwards, Ben Spies, Cal Crutchlow, James Toseland... Who do you think should get a shot at joining Jorge Lorenzo?

i'd like to see bayliss on the yamaha. that would be good to see. imagine him beating stoner. i bet troy would love that.

personally, i'd like to see elias on the bike, just because of his riding style and he may be the only rider that could possible get near pedrosa if he makes a good start. remember last year in donnington? before he fell of, toni was flying and it was great to see. a factory ride would really help him. it might scupper his moto 2 efforts though

My ideas are below, I think, and feel that Troy Bayliss would be the strongest rider, however, he has a lot of ties to Ducati and this may not be allowed due to contracts.

Troy Bayliss
Sete Gibernau
James Toseland (For Silverstone at least)

Assuming Dorna stick to their 'no rookies' rule, safe money would be to put Colin Edwards on the Fiat Yamaha and find a replacement for Colin at Tech 3. Would that be Toseland? Having been considered not good enough for Moto GP (Hence returning to WSBK) would Yamaha put him back on the bike? Is JT not their best chance for some WSBK glory? And what about Cal? With no testing and no prior Moto GP experience (to my knowledge) would Cal be too much of a risk? The argument could circulate forever more.

But you got to think Yamaha would prefer Ben Spies on the factory bike, since Yamaha have signed him for that purpose 1 or 2 years down the line in his Moto GP career.

btw, what happened to the no rookie in a factory team when lorenzo came to moto gp?

either way, this doesn't mean i want spies on the bike. he's good but i'd like to see either bayliss back or eliad given the chance on factory machinery with his riding style

Both colin and Ben should get a go evenly when Yam decide to run the Bike. Split it in half, spies gets X amount and colin the same, to assess where they stand, IMO they both gonna get there a$$es handed to them by jorgey boy.

Lotta wild ideas here, let's have some facts shall we?

There will NO replacement rider before CATALUNYA. Therefore no ride at Silverstone for JT.

Spies CANNOT ride Rossi's bike because his entry status for the whole of 2010 is as a 'rookie'. That can't change.

ONLY Edwards or a test rider can go to Fiat for Catalunya and the Sachsenring. Yamaha could field a WSBK rider in Tech 3 but only Toseland knows both of those tracks.
