The top 4 is way ahead,

the 5th is already outpaced by 1.259sec... so say goodbye to the podium mate.

The 6th will be there nonetheless, he's always been a slow starter.

You dismiss the guy in 5th chances because he's 1.2sec back in the first session on a new track but say the guy behind him still has a chance. How does that work?

I'll wait to the debrief comments to gauge Spies chances. Edwards really needs to step it up or it's end of career. Never can count Dani out. Nicky will improve and Marco's progress could continue. Not much hope for the rest.

everybody will improve their lap time tomorrow. Colins performance doesn't have to be poor to end his career. he is already towards to the end of his career whether he is performing well or not. pretty clever comment there by saying that spies doesn't have a chance for podium but predrosa has.. i think you are over thinking this one.

everyone will improvement their lap times tomorrow

Someone said it was supposed to drizzle tomorrow and sunny on Sunday. . Boy will that make things slick. The 16 rider field may be reduced even more with crashes. Good ole English weather but I gather not unusual for Silverstone.

Cancel that. checked weather report and it's to be pt. cloudy Saturday and Sunday.

"the 5th is already outpaced by 1.259sec... so say goodbye to the podium mate."

I don't really get this sudden pressure for a podium from Spies. He's a very smart guy and is clearly riding within his limits while he learns the bike and tyres. If he doesn't place higher than 5th throughout the weekend then that's still an outstanding job at this point in his learning curve.

I think Spies will be cautious to avoid another dnf weekend and opt for a learning season. But he does like to mount a charge at the start as that can really improve one's chances of a respectable finish.

Re the speed trap figues - I would take them with a pinch of salt - if they were set in the slipstream of another rider they could easily be 8 k higher than normal subject to gearing and if the trap is in the start of the braking zone, which it often is as the traps are sometimes setup for cars they could vary even more.

so you really think depuniet can get a podium only because he is 4th? how many times already happened he was fast on single lap but losing many positions or crashing on race ??
anyway this is only the first hour on a complete new track, tomorrow lap times will go down a analizing this is pretty useless
