Following practice on live timing Ben was at the very bottom of the charts (besides the test riders) for quite a while near the end of the session and at the very last minute banged out a fast lap. So he wouldn't have had any idea of how good it was going to be.

Seriously- the guy's talented. But like I've said he's a realist. He knows that he's racing against the world's best and he's a one step at a time racer. But mostly- I think he does it to keep the pressure off. If he doesn't deflect then people will asume his Tech 3 bike should always be in the top 4 and Tech 3 and Ben both know that it's not possible to pull that off every week. He keeps his head down and does the job. That's a great racer to me.
