Based on results so far my impression is that Rossi is largely overrated with respect to the other grades. Due to injury - aguably because of pressure from his team mate - he hasn't had a chance to show his real potential. For me to give him something close to an A- he'll at least has to score more points than any other rider in the remaining part of the season!
And before people start bashing this post, I for one do rate Rossi very high and really hope he'll surprise us for many more years to come.

@ Kerpen

Wataru is a two-time Japanese Superbike champion, he has tested for Yamaha for a long time, in 1996 he came 9th in WSBK championship, in 2002 came 12th in a GP race. He is a very good rider.

I agree completely. Two Japanese SBK titles mean alot. But the article is a half term MotoGP report, meaning a review of how well the riders have done this year. If we where giving each rider a grade on their whole career then the likes of Rossi would have an A* and I'd rate Wataru a B-. HOWEVER the Article is on this year only.

Yes, I suppose you are right. A U would be the right grade considering his positions. But given that he didn't really know the track and that he hadn't rode in a MotoGP race for 8 years, and that he is 41 or so, maybe a C- or a D would be better?
