MotoGP » Lorenzo podium to break Rossi’s points’ record

A third place finish is all Jorge Lorenzo needs to be classified as scoring the highest number of points over a single season.

Total points records mean nothing. Average points per races tells the real story. The more races the more points. Its easy to create a new record.

I dont see anyone beating Doohan's record where he finished first 12 times second twice and had one DNF. Thats some hell of a record...

Very difficult... but we all know he can do it.

Difficult becouse of standings...
Rossi must win (last race with Yama, defend the record and last chance for 2nd)

Stoner (goes well here) must be ahead of Dovi, Dovi will be pushing (honda also is good here)

Hayden and Spies will be a great battle (i hope noone falls)

Even Sic could be the factor...

Very difficult mission to get the podium imo.

Should be very interesting

Most points but has only won once in the last 7 races just shows you how weak the sport is at the moment. With Dani and Rossi out injured for half the season, JLo and Moaner (if he could stay) on are guaranteed first and second..
Most points by default but second half of season has been disspointing for me . JLo will have to do better next year becuase Dani will be quick from the start and I don't expect Rossi to be badly affected by injury from the second race onwards...
Both Dani, whose missed a few races and Stoner have won more races that JLo in the last 7. If Rossi wins and i don't expect it but if he does that will make JLo bottom of the pile of aliens in the second half of the season on race wins. Any way you slice it that ain't dominance and becuase of ROssi's motocross injury he's had a relatively pressure free season Last two years when he was in a battle he crumbled like all the others. Can't wait for next year...

Funny, I think that now he's got that one out of the way, he'll be the man to beat! A great platform, with nothing much to do but go for the win. Very few of the race times were a revelation compared to the previous years, so I can't see bike speed from any of the teams going ahead in leaps and bounds.
If he ends up 3 points ahead of the record, or 3 points behind, it's still a hell of an achievement considering how he's had to dismantle a very established and favored competitor to do it.
More Spaceman please! Haha...

Lorenzo will walk the title next year. Both Rossi and Stoner will be wrestling with new machinery and Pedrobot is not in the same league and neither is anyone else. Can,t see anyone living with him to be honest.

whats clear for everyone is that bobwhateverisnameis is not a fan of the sport. he just hates rossi and will fanboy on everyone that can beat him. weirdly enough we never hear him say how much lorenzo kicked stoner's ass too this year. it sounds like lorenzo only beat rossi even though he wast there or ridind fit for half of the season.
you got to feel sorry for a guy who finds time to post only negativity and non sense
