Why are they getting rid of 125's ? They are still hugely popular on the continent and sound great. Or is this just so the jap crap crew have an advantage over the euros ?

Pretty good rules for a budget clubmans class, but world championship racing?????????????????

Wonder how many years before they're turning the lap times that the 125's are running now?

Hope SUZUKI gonna take part in moto3 n field couple of bikes for two or three teams.

This can be a best effort to cover up the horrible run in motogp class for recent years, somehow..

If motogp can't give u decent result, just try to make a new breakthrough in a whole new class.

As a fan of Suzi, i really sad to see the result in the recent years. Jeez..

Gawd, these things are going to be slow.
250cc single cylinder four stroke, standard materials, and a 14,000 rev limit. Is this all a joke????
If Dorna really wanted to go the budget route, why didn't they opt for the 450cc single? There is already a thriving class using 450's, multiple manufacturers, and at least the bikes would have a bit of poke.
Remember the Honda 250 6 cylinder bike of the late sixties, reving to over 20,000 rpm? How racing has diminished.

It's simply ridiculous.
Same as with Moto2, they take an absurd approach: neither pure racing engines (only one cylinder, rev limiter, variable valve timing or even gear driven distribution forbidden), neither stock engines (with comparable performance but a lot smaller price tags).

So, it's sort of like trying to replicate a stock engine by building relatively expensive prototypes...
...without taking advantage of what the market already offers.

Trying to control costs in premier racing is like herding cats. Just doesn't work. Cost controls usually are to the detriment of the series. Witness Indycar and AMA road racing. Pretty much appears the relationship between costs and number of fans is directly proportional. I'm not necessarily against the new 250cc four stroke class, only the so-called cost controls. I, too, have always wanted to have a GP team. Only thing that prevented me from doing so was a few hundred million dollars.

This is just the natural progression away from 2-strokes. I loved the old 500cc class but the world is moving away from 2-strokes and MotoGP had to embrace it or die. Commercially, MotoGP is trying to be F1 on two-wheels i.e. professionally run, have the cool factor, a sponsors dream - but unlike F1 the races are cracking (anyone watch the Moto2 race today? Awesome!).

I expect the manufacturers investing in the class are the usual learner legal market - your Piaggio brands (Aprillia, Derbi, Gilera) and Honda. Suzuki won't have a Moto3 bike, you can guarantee it.
