Nicky really showed pace on the soft tyres towards the end of the season. He was on target to finish somewhere in the top four in Valencia, and will look forward to a much more competitive 2011.

One of the times Nicky beat Casey this year was Silverstone when Casey bogged off the line and still rode from dead last to catch Nicky. Jerez was in the middle of Stoners front end woes on the wrong forks, again Casey was catching Nicky hand over fist at the end.

Will he bollox match Rossi.

Much as I like Nicky there's little chance he'll out perform Rossi next year. With Rossi's analysis of the current Ducati and JB getting upto speed with the way the rest of Ducati work, in 3 months or so those who have been kidding themselves Rossi (15th in testing) is slow will realise there was a fair amount of sandbagging going on coupled with JB getting upto speed with learning how to set the bike up in response to Rossi's feedback. All other riders engineers knew the bikes they were working on inside out, JB didn't
