MotoGP » Crutchlow aiming to 'go far' with 'humble' approach

2011 MotoGP rookie Cal Crutchlow has vowed to take a leaf out of his Tech 3 Yamaha predecessor Ben Spies' book next year, as he endeavours to stake his claim to a prolonged future at the pinnacle of the sport

It's all about the improvement quotient now. He's not going to go into the class and be immediately stellar, but a steady learning curve should lead to decent finishes in the second half of the year on tracks he knows. Only a fool would say he's incapable of doing well at this point.

As for humbleness, this certainly seems a more cautious and deferential Crutchlow than we've seen in the past. I don't see any arrogance at all in his comments recently, just a lot of respect for his rivals and an honest recognition of the difficult job ahead. Nothing wrong in that.

Agree Don-R.I think Cal will be just fine next year.
Ramagnoli and Yamaha are no fools.Sort of set up their own conveyer belt regarding rider selection.
Replayed Jerez 2010,what a race.Like Ben,Cal will have a few teething issues.Nevertheless,I reckon,he will be up for it.
On the other side, some great footage at the FIM awards.George,Max,Toni and Marc.
Strange, just when GP is heading for its greatest 800 evolution and most anticipated,a bunch of clowns divert the issue for 2012.Keep it 800 prototype for the next 5 I say.2006/990 may equal 2011/800..I hope.

I love an underdog, and i think Cal is just that. Most people have written him off already, but once he getts some track time, i think he is cabale of running around 6th or 7th in his forst year. And please lets not compare him to Spies just becuase he's taking his seat. Spies had many wildcards on a GP bike before and Cal has only had half a day dry track time. Give him a few practice sessions and races to get comfortable with a GP bike and i think he'll do pretty well in the second half of the season.
