"So RawDawg.
If your shoulder had been giving you grief all year, and you were getting it operated on 1 week after the test, you would risk injury, pre op, and risk the whole of season 2011, on a good 1st out test time?"

Rossi had just finished 3rd at the Valencia race - shoulder and all.

And yes he was trying to see how fast he could go because if they can't get the bike sorted to his liking now there is no 2011 to worry about - good or bad shoulder.

He went faster than Cal and JT on the WSBK bike when he was in far worst condition than he was at the Valencia test.

If he wasn't trying to see how far he could push the bike than why are they re-designing it after they said they wouldn't? Why did they come out and say it was a "bad test" if they were not looking for times?

It amazes me how many people her are hung up on the times of the first test with an injured rider going in for surgery in a couple of days. They actually think the whole season is all but over. The haters must actually think he is a god and secretly worship him. Being able to take a bike that is know to spit you off if the front tire doesn't have heat in it and risk the entire next season just to get a lap time that doesn't mean squat. You guys must think he is foolish or you think he is superman.

And another thing the haters are forgetting, an injured shoulder gets tired, sore, and weak after a whole three days of racing and practicing. And if people read they would know that they said it if physically demanding to ride the Ducati if the tires are not up to temp. But again the haters secretly think he is a god.

C'mon Rawdawg.
Your stooping down to Bobby's level now.
Finishing 3rd in Valencia, on a bike he has been riding for 6 years, and knows the inside out of, is hardly a comparison to a bike he has never been on, and does not know anything about. Then going and cutting laps at breakneck speed. Sorry man, as far as I'm concerned he just went out to get a feel for the thing. They will probably make some minor stand out changes. Where can I read that they made all these major changes you are talking about? Cheers.

I think that VR and JB really underestimated the issues the bike had when they said that they could sort the front end in "80 seconds"... That comment was extremely arrogant and they've both had their piles pushed right back.

Rossi came third in a race prior to testing, he tested the Duc in the same physical condition as the race, During testing the best position he attains is last, Ducati admits that it was a poor test, meaning that the bike was not suitable for Rossi's riding style and no amount of tweaking over the test period improved the bike for his style, hence he couldn't push to find the bikes limit. Conclusion, VR and JB tell Ducati that major changes need to done to the bike for VR to be competitive, they are basically converting the Red Devil into a M1. The problem is, with such major redesigning it will be a totally different bike which will require lots of testing just to get a good "base" setting, then there's the fine tuning required for each and every track to be a "a

You are behind on the times. You can go to motomatters dot com to read the major changes. It's an article titled "Engineers Assemble In Bologna To Work On 2011 Ducati MotoGP Bike".

You don't go and re-desgin the chassis after a ride to "get a feel". Ducati isn't making "minor" changes - they are making major changes. Read up on the article than get back to me..................

And the same goes for you too TedG - read up and get back to me.................

Have read that RawDawg, but really what is the point, surely they have the right to do whatever they want, man if they want to build a rocket to the moon then that is their business and there ain't nothin' we can do about it so who cares really. After all we are just the followers of the sport so why take things so personally, you make some valid points but it seems that if people do not agree with you then they don't know s--t. Come on man you don't have anymore knowledge than the rest of us on what happens with these manufacturers. If you don't like what others say then you have a cry to crash but you expect others to listen to your rants and suck it up. Anyway good luck to all the teams, may they provide us with great entertainment in 2011..

Off season op being the reason for taking it easy doesn't sit too well with me.Nicky and Randy also had off season ops approaching.Hand and leg respectively.
Fair enough,Nicky knows the bike, but Randy was in exactly the same boat as Rossi...except that he ended the test right up there with Nicky proclaiming he loved the bike.
Where does that leave the 'taking it easy on account of' argument. Unless Randy is a fool.
Capirossi was also nurturing injury and anyone thinking that Rossi with his ego wanted to end up with rookie Karel up his tailpipe is in denial.

Dear Mr. Southerner, none of the current riders are fools and each has their own agenda and we are sure that they could not give a flying pineapple if their plans don't sit right with you, just who are you anyway? One would suspect that you are just another lounge chair expert like everyone else on these forums and lets face it none of us have a clue on what the teams agenda's are, why the hell would they tell the world about all their plans and give away vital secrets, lets just wait and see what unfolds at the first race.
