Austin should be a no brainer. I have been to Laguna and although it is awsome, it is just too remote and dificult to get to. Texas loves competion, moto gp would do very well there. I have not been to indy, but most of what I read indicates it is not that great of a track, more of a namesake.

I say add as many rounds as possible!! That way we have racing all year with no winter break! Guys like me wont have to slip into this deep, dark depression every winter!! HaHa!

pcxmac, I doubt the Indy round would be missed too much, but the attendance has been quite good. The place can seat over 250k so when you have something like 70k it looks sparce. Laguna only holds 55k and Indy has beat it in attendance every year.

Y'know, as a Briton I think that a 3rd round in the USA ain't such a bad idea.
After all, much smaller countries like Spain and Italy host 2 rounds (be it MotoGP or WSB). The market penetration would be good for world wide motorcycling generally.

I can see Laguna going away, as sad as that would be for all. It will never bring in the $ that some of the bigger venues do because it just phisically can't.

That being said, what a beutiful and unique track to have on the schedual! I would hate to see it go away again. It has provided some of the biggest challenges for the riders as they have stated and some great battles like Casey and Valentino.

i have been to the indy events and the only good thing about it (imho) is that it is geographically closer to the residents of the eastern half of the united states. austin would be a great choice, but it still creates a problem with the vast amount of travel required to reach the event (a similar problem with laguna). having traveled in europe and the states, they have it made overseas as quite a few races are easy to get to from central europe.

Laguna has a contract with Dorna through 2014.

Personally, I'd be surprised if Laguana is ever replaced by another U.S. venue. It's very well liked by teams and management because of it's iconic value and proximity to tourist attractions. It's always the last event before the break when everyone takes a holiday. But, you never know.

i support indy. though not exactly close, been to it all 3x. been to laguna 1x. loved it, but indy's got an ampitheater effect that no other track can match. not a rider favorite though. :( many don't realize indy only hosts 3-4 events a year tops (was news to me). the rest of the time the track just sits getting "green". the infield is ONLY used by motogp, thus it goes a whole year (snow/rain/sun) without rubber being laid down. last season, remember vale's practice crashes and stoner's rants...? well there ya go. slick as goose poop come FP1. laguna also has the benefit of being a "home round" for the manufacturers since their U.S. ops are all in cali. i'd go to texas, but only for a spring date. nearly hot as qatar/sepang in august. :(
