hey Dale Hylton

Potential sponsors look at Global TV numbers, attendance at races, the demographics of the audience, viewing numbers by countries which correlates to their marketing strategy, how can they smooze potential clients and kiss up to current business partners in the VIP areas at races, etc, etc. What people say on forums about a test mean f'k all about writing a check to be a sponsor. If they are doing their due diligence reading Crash forums than they're doing it wrong.

I guess that's why soccer has so many sponsor. Because, you know, all the fans get alone so well......

Point made ... the subsequent comments show that people having their 2 cents worth on here either didnt get the point of my post, didnt understand it, couldnt read it properly, or were too worried about they were going to say next to even consider it for a second.

So I'll simplify.
Some of the comments on this story are the most stupid I have ever seen on here.

I still find it hard to fathom, that Rossi and Burgess would walk blind into Ducati, and sign a contract. No way you become one of the greatest motorcycle champions of all time, and make such a major blunder. Either they were very dumb, or just waiting for the 1000s to come back online, with a whole new bike. I am sure Rossi is not to concerned with all the negative comments from all the keyboard warriors who have never raced a motorbike. I for one, refuse to count 46 out so easily.

The fact that Edwards is fourth nullifies any bearing these tests have on the regular season.

All the top guys are capable of throwing down a hot lap to get up the charts, but what separates the bread from the butter is Race Starts, Race Consistency, and Racecraft (notice 'test' missing).

Dovi, Spies and Rossi will be dark horses this year. Title matchup between Stoner and Jorge.

Sooooooo..... where are the "go nicky" fans? Hiding again??? LMAO! Gonna love the season. Too bad Rossi is thick headed and kept racing when he should have just dont the operation in sept-oct (the latest) and be 90pc fit by now. Though, must admire his determination, rather than taking a stoner-like vacation.

Although I agree he needs to step it up this year, Nicky is a consistency type of racer (ie 2006), not a one lap chart topper.

He will finish 6-8th again this year. Solid, but at the same time meh.

ohh yeah...GO NICKY! :)

Yep, it seems he will be consistently 8-12th... Doubt he will finish any higher than 8th this year. As far as nick doing a one lap wonder you are wrong - he does that more often than not.

Looks like it may be all Stoner this season. Lorenzo doesn't yet have the developmental knowledge to keep the yamaha at the front over the course of the season, Pedrosa too soft to fight and Rossi got ran out of Yamaha to end up on what may turn out to be one of the worst performing bikes on the grid besides Suzuki. The Rossi excuse makers will be saying, "Yea he's slow and not performing but you see Ducati's saving all their cash and engineering resources to having an unbeatable bike once the 1000cc era begins next season. Rossi will be back and better than ever, He will show the doubters his power and Blah, Blah Blah Blah"
