weight and especially height is not an excuse but it does make a difference, and 4kgs up on Rossi is probably 10-15 up on the real midgets danny, elias and stoner, and that is a big difference, and will definately fry the tryes quicker and knock a few k's off the top speed. Easily worth 2-3 secs over race distance.

Having said that if there is any argy bargy he will be drop kicking umpa lumpas all over the shop.

Recon he will be better on 1000cc next year though.

Marco: Weight, 72 kg. Height: 183 cm

Spies: Weight: 71 kg. Height: 180 cm

Rossi: Weight, 64.00 kg. Height 178 cm.

Stoner: Weight, 58.00 kg Height, 171 cm.

Hiro: Weight: 57 kg. Height: 165 cm

Pedrosa: Weight, 47.00 kg Height, 158 cm.

So Simmo is an amazing 25 kg heavier than Pedro, no wonder he is harder on his tyres, he is another half a Pedro heavier....lol. Spies is in the same boat.

I wonder what is the optimal weight for a rider? As power to weight is always an advantage, but then you need strength and size for optimum turning. You'd think somewhere around the Rossi weight bracket.

Mick Doohan 178cm/65kg 5 world titles,
Rossi 178cm/64kg 7 world titles,

Aside from their skill level its interesting they are roughly the same size with 12 titles.

A Mick Doohan comment:

"Mick Doohan, a nearly marathon-distance runner before his severe ankle injury, told us, "The idea is to be as fast at the end of the race as you are at the beginning. Some guys are really quick for two or three laps, but then go backward."

Stoner to me looks the fittest I've seen for years, possibly ever.

By the way Jorge: Height, 170 cm. Weight, 55 kg

asphalt and rubber dot come has an article saying that both gresini honda are getting factory support.

this year honda definitely want to get the last title on 800cc (which honda never have one since 800cc is introduced in 2007)..... which could also lead to another interesting arguement in the foreseable future.... lorenzo can't defend his title this year.
good bye to the one year long #1 on his bike.

then, the interesting thing starts from here....

Will be nice if it's true. The original source for their story is from gpone. I get a sneaking suspicion that something has been lost in translation from some of the original quotes. Since gpone is the only site reporting this news, I will wait for other sites to confirm it before I believe it.

Simoncelli is a cool character. I like his personality unlike jerks like spies and pedrosa. I always watch his interviews on motogp. I always skip spies and pedrobot.
