Lorenzo on a Yamaha will be up there with Stoner and Pedrosa.Spies possibly will hang on for a while on his Yamaha but he needs to take that final step here.
Stoner on the Yamaha would see him where?
More than likely he would still be on top..it doesn't matter what he rides.

wowzer, i swouldnt say they are beaten, just realistic. Its clear to anyone that if stoner and pedrosa stay upright, they will come home in 1st and 2nd. That said, the last podium spot is up for grabs, and it could be any one of 4 or 5 riders, BS, JL, AD, MS and VR.

With that in mind, a race consists of more than just one or two fast lap times with a clear road in front of you. Once the flag drops, and the adrenaline starts pumping, the previous time sheets and current form goes out the window, then who knows what might happen.

I personally think JL with grab 3rd, and Spies a few seconds behind in 4th. Provided CS and DP dont get tangled up with one another.

Stoner with the Yamaha wouldn't be in front of Pedrosa with the Honda, for instance. It DOES matter what he rides, as anybody else. Qatar is a track where power is very important. Yamaha has managed to fight here in the past because Honda always had issues this early in the season and because the second Ducati rider was no match for the Yamaha duo. There will be tracks where the Yamaha will have advantage, and any rider on a Yamaha would do better than on other bike. That's just the nature of things. Lorenzo's pace is improving solidly and I hope tomorrow he'll improve some more. Spies seems to have almost reached his peak here, but maybe he still improves too. They are going to make a b1tch out of Dovizioso. And maybe Pedrosa. Both Stoner and Pedrosa have made rather short runs. Let's see how they do over race distance. Lorenzo seems solid.

in light of Honda's dominance you cant blame them for keeping their cards close to their chest, but its more a sense of calm than of fear or defeat i believe. . .

its a long season, Jorge is smart and has learnt that it cant be won in the first race. Im pretty sure Ben has those smarts in store also.

Look at it the other way round:

If the Hondas DON'T win here they have far bigger hurdle to get back over than the slower but agile and more tyre friendly Yams have if they don't win here.

re: "then who knows what might happen."

i do... look for the "repsol express". a 3-man honda freight train drafting each other down the straightway with everybody else desperate to keep tow.
