The crazy thing is, he had the same exact kind of crash on the ktm back in 2009 while battling for a podium. Looks like the "spectacular highsides" at Qatar are a part of Marquez's baptism of fire. One thing is for sure, the kid is tough as nails and I still have my money on him for the championship.

Marquez was great in practice and will have some great races this season, but Stefan Bradl was amazing this weekend. I don't know if he will be consistent, but with Marquez, Redding, Bradl, Ianone, Luthi, Dangerous etc we have a mouth watering season ahead.

Sofuoglu a bit disappointing - hopefully just a blip.

Although I appreciate the safety of the modern era the bikes are almost too rideable! Back in the 500cc two-stoke days these sorta pics were a regular occurrence. Push too hard...see yah...the chain-saw buzzing two-stoke bucking bronco way!

Even better was the slow-mo foot peg sparking rider flying on-board replays from the guy that was just kissing wheels with in the corner.

Lucky to escape injury, could easily have ended up like Bautista, or perhaps that should be the other way round and it was Bautista who was unlucky not to escape injury - if he'd hadn't had so much misfortune lately, he might have been able to walk away like Marquez. All it takes is an awkward fall though, one that causes injury to a part of the body that comes under a lot of strain during racing, and it can spell the end of a promising career. The guys earn their money out there.

Lizard boy was lucky not to injure himself but was refreshingly honest about his mistake. I'm sure he will be a front runner this season.
