MotoGP » Doohan: You get ten years at the top

"I'm not saying that Rossi's career is over, but it's not a downhill ride any more, I think he's at the bottom of the slope" - Mick Doohan.

Doohan seems to me to be a bitter old man. He won his 5 championships without any real competition. Checha, a young Biaggi, Criville. He only started winning when Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz retired.

Now he's a Stoner apologist and a Rossi hater, probably because Rossi came to MotoGP and stole his legacy by winning all those titles directly after he retired. And I think it eats at him that his fast boy Stoner, for all his supposed talent, is going to retire with one championship.

How are you going to call him a Rossi hater? Based on this one article? He's praised the bejesus out of Rossi over the years, even after he (Doohan) was still working for HRC and Rossi had left to Yamaha.

blah blah blah, he's firmly in Casey's corner here.

this is all part of the 2011 MotoGP mind games. luckily this won't faze Valentino, who proved last sunday he is still more than capable of winning when the motorcycle advantage is equalised.

i'm a fan of all of them tho, and look forward to whatever happens!

Are you retarded or another little Rossi fan boy? Have much idea of your Motogp history or the relationship between Doohan and Rossi?

At least Doohan say it as it is, and I applaud him for that. You don't need to say nice things just to be a nice guy and not make yourself an object of hate for the Rossi fangirls.

Not sure I would agree with MD's assessment that Rossi is at the bottom of the slope, but I think any unbiased person must accept that Rossi peaked a few years back, and is simply not the force he once was, especially after his various injuries.
A new generation is coming forward ... Lorenzo, Stoner, & Simoncelli ... and this is always the way. What's clear is that they no longer fear Rossi. Once upon a time, Rossi was so in peoples' heads that he had virtually won the race before it kicked off. Nowadays, he is just far less relevant and no longer a genuine threat.

So Rossi is close to his sell by date according to Doohan, Hmmm Baylis must have been positively stale and mouldy when he was was winning going by Micks train of thought
