MotoGP » Doohan: You get ten years at the top

"I'm not saying that Rossi's career is over, but it's not a downhill ride any more, I think he's at the bottom of the slope" - Mick Doohan.

I don't think even us dieheart Rossi fans expect our hero to win every single championship!! It would be nice, but we are realistic! It is the overall performance of Valentino year after year that impresses us,along with his hard work and determination! Not like these one hit wonders, like Stoner, who then go on to think they rule the world and make ridiculous comments about ambition versus talent!!!! No, Valentino Rossi is everything a brilliant sportsman should be both on and off the track and as far as ambition & talent are concerned then that should speak for itself!!! Give credit when and where it is due !!!!!!

TDS your comment illustrates what many people find distastful about the attitude of Rossi fans. You talk about giving respect and then go on to attack Stoner for only winning one championship. Firstly, I don't know where you are getting the they rule the world from. Did he put out a press release saying that he is our overlord? Also, you are not Rossi, you have not won 9 championships and you (I presume) have not won any motogp races. Therfore using your logic, you personally should be giving Stoner respect where it is due, as he has won a world championshipship and many motogp races. Instead you refer to him as a one hit wonder(as though winning a world championship is somehow not something to be respected) and get personally offended by something he said to the guy who just crashed him out of the race.

What this really shows is that most VR fans are actually the haters. They hate anyone who is not VR, and feel free to abuse them and do not show any respect at all. Then you have

If Rossi was to win the title on the Ducati it would by far eclipse any of his other title achievements, in my opinion.
I just don't know if he's got the raw speed to do it anymore.

Obviously everyone has their own idol, or a rider that they prefer to aim their loyalties to, I am not stupid in that respect. What I don't like however is the way Casey Stoner fans, or fans of any other rider that has only won 1 championship, or even less, try to insinuate that Stoner, or whoever, is on a par with a person like Valentino Rossi! Achievment is what it is all about in the racing world and until these other riders can either equal, or surpass those of a rider like Valentino, then there are no reasons that I can see to try to imply otherwise!! You are correct - I haven't won any MotoGP races, well, not physically anyway, but definately in spirit and in my dreams !!!!!!

I don't "hate" anyone, especially other riders and their fans, I just get a bit "annoyed" at stupid, silly comments that have no justification and no real reason!! What on earth has someone like Valentino Rossi done to deserve such loathing except be very, very good at his job! Every rider in MotoGP has exceptional skills, but there are none that are better than Valentino's - be honest!!!
