"I'm not saying that Rossi's career is over, but it's not a downhill ride any more, I think he's at the bottom of the slope" - Mick Doohan.

Talking about legends praising Rossi, Rainey had said somewhere around 2005 concenring Rossi's dominance "It's gonna take someone who's not yet in the series to race Rossi".

What Rossi proved, after the arrival of Stoner and Lorenzo who could, indeed, race him, he was no slouch and won 2 championships racing them.

Interesting theory by Mick...but in the end only a theory. Mick suffored horrendous injuries...nearly lost a leg and continued problems with the injury forced his retirement. Mick and Rossi have such totallly different personalities (and yes, I have met and spoken with both of them several times, so have a bit of personal knowledge from which to speak) Mick only wanted the WIN, Rossi wants the RACE (yes and of course to win). IMO as long as Rossi enjoys the racing, he will continue to be a contender.

No need to sweat Mick's comments.12 years down the track Valentino will hopefully be in the same position to comment on Marquez,Iannone,Simmo and (add a name of your choice,as predicted by your expertise).
The stats 2011,suggest Mick is bang on target.

Rossi once was the greatest rider. Now other riders have upped their game and are now his equal. Maybe Jorge is better. But the Ducati will never be better than the Honda or Yamaha. So tell me how is Rossi ever going to win a race again let alone a championship?

Mick Doohan is the greatest of all time! He raced and beat the best the world had to offer. If he did not get injured, he was a shoe in for another championship. He almost won a couple more championships (before 94).
