MotoGP » Schwantz thrilled with Texas MotoGP deal.

The former world champion worked with organisers to ensure bike racing wasn't 'alienated' from the circuit plans.

Schwantz is perhaps my favorite rider of all time. Not so much for his speed or achievements (which comparatively speaking are nothing next to what Rossi or Doohan achieved) but for his mentality and approach to racing.

The guy was easy going and likable but once he put the helmet on he was pure n*ts!

Before Laguna felt like an extra once off race but now USA has 3 races and is really becoming a big player in Motogp calendar.

Meanwhile Australia has just one race and on at the wrong time of the year, where the weather becomes the spectacle.

Doohan not much of an Australian ambassador for the sport compared to Schwantz campaigning.

Schwantz is like Gardner and gets in the media any opportunity he can and is self serving and a bit of an egomaniac.I used to like his racing but as a person no thanks.I like him best when he doesn't open his mouth.

I'm pleased for Kevin Schwantz but saddened on behalf of the sport. New circuits are all well and good but we need full grids and traditional circuits such as Brno being supported also. Not that I'm a cynical person but it's all about money..........

Wow, I am amazed anyone has a dislike for Schwantz. The man was an incredible racer and has always continued to contribute to the sport, many years into retirement.

That being said, as soon as they announce the 2013 MotoGP schedule I will be booking a flight down to Austin.

Well get rid of laguna and i'll be happy hopefully we can have all classes visiting and racing.

but as someone else said and quite rightly why a new circuit when there are other circuits not being used.

i do think espeleta is another bernie ecclestone in training.

i certainly hope its not a 3rd round for the usa i dont believe any country should even have 2 gps let alone 3 the races need to be shared around a bit more or else its not so much a world championship but i hope the austin circuit is a good one and having Kevin behind it is a good thing also with regards to the Australian gp i think its at the right time of year where it is now we have pretty icky weather in Victoria in march
