Maybe I'm being a conspiracy theorist, but under this rule you could still test new parts on a bike that is not eligible for either 2011 or 2012. This would allow you to get in some extra tests - by building some sort of technicality into the bike that would make it ineligible, such as higher fuel capacity.

The rule should say a limit of eight tests 'for any non-production motorcycle that is not eligible for the 2011 season'. This would make sure that manufacturers use their non-800cc tests fairly.

Remember what happened when the switch to 800s came in?? Ducati got the jump on all of them...

Now here we are with Ducati testing the new bike first, and this time with the greatest rider/engineering team within motoGP... god help the rest for the new 1000cc era..

Also whilst many people are slagging off Rossis performance on the 800 Duke, lets not forget he has had less time on the bike than Stoner or Hayden, and he has only been in 3 races which although not brilliant results, still have beaten Spies on his old bike and a few others too.... give him a chance FFS

i for one would love to see unlimited testing once again! and if they complain about the lack of funding, lets bring back marlboro, lucky strike, gauloises, benson hedges and all the other great ones at all the races, and not just a few countries wehre it's allowed

you dont have to smoke if you don't want to, i still would like to see it on the bikes, reminds me of the good old days

Good move if you ask me. Ity will help to advoid a repeat of the 2007 season when one bike helped the one-off wonder from down under win a championship while the others struggled to close the performance gap over the course of the season. All that testing should help each factory get their $hit straight.

Ducati/Honda/ yamaha/Suzuki pay millions for there riders and are not aloud to use them to there full potential , and they still have to pay there test riders, they should let teams test on s Monday after each gp or at Leat after 2 gp's

You forget that Ducati are actually listening to Rossi unlike Stoner. Remember how badly they treated Capirossi and Melandri? They can't rely on Stoner's skill to get good results from the Ducati anymore hence why they are listening to Rossi to make it easier to ride.

Rossi is only beating Spies because Rossi himself didn't deserve to finish fifth after he took out Stoner at Jerez and Spies had a problem with the bike at Estoril last time out....

Rossi fanatics accusing people of not giving Rossi a chance.. that is so rich.
