MotoGP » Simoncelli rejects blame for Pedrosa crash

“I believe that my ride-through was a result of all the talk over the past few days,” – Marco Simoncelli.

No way is the penalty justified. There will be dozens of similar moves this season none of which will earn a drive through unless it's Marco! Lorenzo pulled a very dodgy overtake earlier on (on Dovi I think?) Hopefully he'll think twice before bleating about dangerous overtaking again. Like to see Rossi get a drive through for an overtake. Oh wait...he can overtake under a yellow flag anyway

Think i agree with you Brendan. Harsh for Simoncelli, it looks like Pedrosa might have got in a bit hot and simply had no option but to hit him. I reckon he might have run wide if he hadnt have struck Simoncelli. Harsh for Pedrosa as well!

Noones to blame, Simoncelli put a hard pass in, but how often do you see those sort of passes? ALL THE TIME!
Soon enough MotoGP is just going to be a borefest like F1 if they keep giving out pathetic penaltys.
Do you ever see people get penalised in WSBK or BSB for these sort of overtaking maneuvers? Nope. It's racing, good hard racing. Simoncelli and Rossi are 2 of the few in MotoGP who still like to put on a good show by the looks of it. But from a lot peoples comments on here i guess you guys just prefer racing like we had in Estoril. Follow someone for the whole race, overtake with ~2 laps to go then take off, i'm sorry but that's not entertaining. A good hard race is such a rarity in MotoGP these days it's pathetic, and judging by this it's going to get even rarer.

Simo looked to be perfectly under control to me. In what way was that any worse than the bonehead manouvre a couple of weeks ago by a red bike that punted stoner down the road.

The drive through was totally unfair.

Simo kind of indicted himself with the comment "my telemetry shows I braked in the same place as the previous laps". When you're dicing that closely with somebody and you've got that long of a run to the corner to assess the situation, you don't brake in the same place you did when you were on your own in there, you adjust your braking and your line to make sure everybody gets through the corner upright, and you find a better place to pass later. It was a hairball move (no pun intended) and was completely avoidable. There was plenty of time left in the race, and plenty of better places to make a pass. (and for reference, I'm saying this as a 15+ year superbike/superstock racer who's both taken out and been taken out by other riders in the past--to all the guys who are saying "that's racing" from their couches, I would respectfully opine that you've got no idea what you're talking about)

marco simoncelli is going to be world champ in next couple of years FACT.he is the most exciting rider out there today. in moto gp. why is everyone hateing him. do you want to see F1 type boring raceing where you start to fall asleep after 5 laps.i do feel sad for dani hes a great racer and would love to see him win the title but things like this happen. but you need exciting riders out there or things can get boring

Earlier statements proved correct ... most of the young riders ARE pu$$ies ... & seems so are many of the young fans.

Go watch the races from a few years back when real men were racing ... GP's or Superbikes.

That gap Simo left Dani would have been enough for Haga AND Edwards to ride around in & then come back at each other on the next corner ... with Simo still there!

I think sometime this week they'll review this and come up with a one race suspension. I'll bet Honda is REAL happy with him taking out one of their top riders who was 2nd in the championship standings
