Despite dropping from pole position at the start to sixth at the chequered flag, Marco Simoncelli is nonetheless pleased with overall performance in Spain.

Race direction had nothing to do with. He closed to withing .3 of a second of Rossi and then inexplicably backed off. Clearly he didn't want to risk bumping into or taking points off his good buddy Valentino. If it had been Stoner or Lorenzo .3 in front of him he'd have have been all over them like a rash. Honda should sit him down and ask him why he fealt he couldn't pass Rossi having clsed the gap to him steadily and being on a faster bike with less worn tyres.

Not sure I agree with Stavros. I think he backed off because he didnt want to crash again when the rain started.

Either that or all the top riders were told to make the race as dull as possible. If so, they all did very well.

Stuart the rain had well and truly stopped by lap 18, at which point Simo was 0.3 from Rossi.. Simoncelli's pass on Hayden earlier in the race showed he hadn't been cowed by race direction at all.

Same bike and tyres won the race comfortably. And Simo's hard tyres would have been working better than Rossi's medium compound by lap 18. Simo needs to remember who pays him, not who his mates are.

I also think Simoncelli would have tried harder for a pass if it was Dovi, Lorenzo, Spies or anyone else right in front of him but not Stoner. HRC would kill him!

Errrrr, that's who was "right in front of him", plus his buddy Rossi.

Are you claiming that because Stoner was in the lead he couldn't improve on sixth!!!!!
