im sure there are faster out there, but, as the stats say, he had a huge run of successive motogp starts, he can develop a bike and tyres, AND he plays the team mate game. he knows that he wont be motogp world champion, but he is a firm favourite with the fans, dosnt throw it up the road every other race (last 2 excepted) and gets the exposure that sponsors want to see. also, he bends over backwards to help his younger team mates progress. and lets not forget all the testing every weekend that he was vale's team mate. i think the quote was " factory test rider with 40 wild card appearances"

The problem with putting young guys on these rides is they tend to crash. Each crash is expensive and they jepordise experienced riders championship runs. They are cheap but they dont bring sponsors, especially young riders from the US. Also the inexperiance leaves them mid to back of the pack so it limits team sponsor exposure. Only one person can be champ each season, so these contracts are not made with the intent that each rider has a legitimat shot at it. Tech 3 knows what they will get from Collin and they obviously like it.

One of the elder statesmen of MotoGP for sure. You have to admire his enthusiasm. But a week is a very short time for an injury like a collarbone.I hope he hasnt made the wrong decision to come back so early.

maybe baby
Colin and Capirossi could switch to WSBK 2-3 years ago. The could be really strong there and I bet somebody from them would already have what Biaggi has now. A title and Bayliss alike image.

So those riders started their career as substitutes for another injured rider?

I think you completely missed MP5's point bro.
