MotoGP » Stoner takes championship command

"I was just happy to stay up on the bike, it was incredibly cold and I was so nervous as in these conditions it's so easy to crash!" – Casey Stoner.

@ lemmy

However at the moment Edward's name would be higher than Simoncelli's, who pushes hard but keeps crashing. Whether Stoner was pushing harder or not if I were a team boss I'd rather have someone bringing home points. This year's Ducati isn't on the same level as last year's relative to the rest of the field.

Sure McQwerty, this years Ducati ain't last years. It's been developed around Rossi.
This years HRC bike owes much of its development to Stoner's first outing on it November last year.
What about Bridgestone ?. Rossi is developing the tyres too !!
Rock on Mugello.
Assen is tradition and a crappy circuit due to the mods. Mugello is the 'crown jewell' of circuits and Rossi 'owns' it in terms of race history. Ducati has won it with Stoner. Win it with Rossi? In a pigs eye says I.

But did Stoner win Mugello Last year? no, so why would Rossi be expected to win it this year? The point i'm trying to make is that last year's Duke was more competitive than this year's, and not just because it had Stoner onboard

Stoner won Mugello 2009.Since you're asking,McQuirkey, mixed race conditions and all.
Question for you is ...as regards Mugello 2011,where is your money ?.
Courage of convictions,'put up or shut up' and all.
Valentino 'owns' Mugello and the thunderbeasts will trumpet a victorious return for the God of Thunder !
I maintain...'In a pigs eye,says I'.
Within Championship points will be his game plan.
No options. Totally outgunned by George,Casey and a host of others.
Please don't blame Ducati. The bike has won plenty GP800 races even with CF experimentation.

it wouldnt be a snoozefest if Dovi and simmo took the fight to Stoner but they dont seem to be able to do it but honestly its pretty much Rossi fans who are complaining about it being boring it was the same for ten years when Rossi was winning everything but the true fans stuck around somehow i think the only people moto gp will lose cause of the racing this year is the rossi fans a lot of whom know nothing about moto gp they just like Rossi which is both good and bad he was able to draw new fans to the sport the bad part is a lot of them werent true fans

"Please don't blame Ducati. The bike has won plenty GP800 races even with CF experimentation."

I think most if not all those races were won by Stoner, who else have won on the GP800?

@ Southerner

I know he won mugello 2009, but if this year's bike is so much like last year's then surely Rossi should look to match last year's Stoner result. He probably won't I acknowlege that, but as you can see Ducati got less competitive from 2009 to 2010 and it looks like the trend is continuing, this year's duke is less competitive than last year's.

And since you asked I hope Pedrosa wins at Mugello (I am a Pedrosa fan not a Rossi fan) but my money would be on Stoner
