Whats this nonsense about Spies needing to find an extra 1% to be up with the aliens in MotoGp. He needs to find about an extra 50% just to get across the finish line !

Happy he is unhurt and I believe he is talented, but like Simo they both need to get their act together. Much less heralded riders are slowly moving ahead of them in the standings.

Ben is having a rough time right now but I'm not too worried. He proved in 2009 that he is mentally strong enough to work through times like these. I think he will be at the sharp end soon enough.

@ Yamazuki,

%100 agreed. Those walls should have air fences in front of them. Didn't see Spies' crash, but vividly recall Lascorz and Tamburini from last year's wss race. They both hit the wall hard sustaining injuries. Had there been an air fence in front of the wall they might not have gotten injured at all.

this whole round was really a throw away for spies. nobody should be judged based on this round. lady luck shown both good and bad. conditions were appalling... 2nd only to hurricane effected indy '08 and wsbk phil's isle '01. a race that edwards won if i'm not mistaken...?

re: "so he needs to sort himself out and at least finish the races."

if i recall lorenzo was the first to use the 800cc M1 to bring back 500cc 2-stroke style high sides (hang time this). so it seems going fast on the factory M1 involves a fair bit of crashing. hopefully it will translate to the 1000...? personally, i think the yamaha support wagons are currently circled around lorenzo. he is afterall defending a #1 plate and it's been awhile since a 2nd seat ever really played a positive role in a world championship or title defense. think ya gotta go all the way back to foggy/corser for something like that...?

shamarone, no you only have to go back last year and the year before to see the 2nd seat played a posative role in the championship. Multiple wins on 09 and runner up to the title, and multiple wins and lifting the championship trophy last year. So all this '2nd' seat malarky is nonsense i have to say. Lorenzo is beating Spies comfortably because he is a step above Spies, no other reason. Thats not a dig at Spies, just a fact at the moment.

And all this thing about luck in a wet race. Well yes you do need a but of luck to get the results. But you also need to be a great wet rider too of course, edwards, stoner, hayden, dovi are all good in the wet, and they got the results to show that, which were well deserved.
