Thought Jordi Torres did quite well at Silverstone, he was very close to Javier Fores (the other Aspar Moto2 rider) all weekend. But still always enjoy seeing new riders do a round or two to see how they go! See Marcel Schrotter, Valencia 2009, 125cc race. 5th on a Honda amongst all those Derbi/Aprilia bikes was a very impressive ride.

I remember there was a woman in the 250cc class the same year as Rossi.
The most sought after by the press were Rossi.. Because he was Rossi and her because... She was a woman.

All to the detriment of the rest.
I think she failed to qualify for the race most of the times.

Katja Poensingen could ride and on the right bike she was competitive, but ended up in the Dark Dog team which at the time was a bad place to be and she lost her way I think. The best female rider I can think of was Taru Rinne, she was capable of leading GP's best result I think was a 7th in the West German 125GP at Hockenheim, not bad for a pretty little Finnish girl on a privately entered bike. Too many big crashes and a broken pelvis finished her career if I remember right. Any rider, male or female should be there on merit, give the girl a chance, she won't match Simon's performance by any stretch but its only a temp ride, no doubt for the benefit of Spanish sponsors, but lets see how she goes before sticking the knives in.

I'll hold off judgement. This is the Aspar team that has teams in all classes - they don't need extra publicity. Unlike a team like LCR that takes whatever sponsor and publicity that they can get, historically Aspar has always had decent riders based on results.

Just because she's 11th doesn't mean that the sole measure of her speed. Marco Simoncelli is 11th in MotoGP but he's been much faster than that. DNFs (cause by her or others) or incidents here and there may have played a part.
