Given the technological advantages that Honda developed this season, Simoncelli has shown to be the only one that can match Stoner, in the absence of Pedrosa. He is a champion in his own right and clearly a fighter. The results will come soon enough...

This guy is fast on a flying lap no argument, but Stoner can keep putting the laps in time after time for the whole race distance. That is the difference between the two at the moment.Marco is simply too wild and until he learns to use his head he is not going to worry Stoner in the slightest. He will undoubtedly come to realise this and adjust his riding accordingly. If he keeps riding the way he is,he will never win the championship at this level.

I agree with mick, he's too wild at the moment.
If he keep this way, he will never win anything apart from a race here and there.

He could learn and become a title contender in the future, but he also might stay for ever a Pasolini, always losing against the Agostini of the moment.

But it doesn't matter, I like him a lot anyway, he's still one of the very best thing that happened to MotoGP in the latest years.

"Simoncelli has shown to be the only one that can match Stoner"

er, no he hasn't.

He's shown flashes of brilliance but he has yet to put it together. He's got a pole or whatever but it didn't lead to anything. It's hard for me to say a guy who doesn't even have a podium can match Stoner who has 4 wins. Simoncelli hasn't even shown that he can consistently match Dovi week in and week out. He has to start bring it home.

I'm pretty sure that as Simoncelli gets more experience and less hot-headed, he will be more consistent and will hence take podiums and wins.

I think the first win needs to come sooner rather than later because I think his desperation to win a MotoGP race is perhaps leading him into mistakes.

Might not have race results just yet but they will come it's only his second year and first on a competetive bike that can run at the front. And he has run consistant fast laps in practice close to matching Stoner it's only his inconsistant riding in the race that's hurting him.

As for Dovi he's got more points and brings the bike home but he doesn't have the raw speed of Casey or Dani and I bet by the end of the year Marco is beating him every time... if he can keep it on 2 wheels and learn from his mistakes thus far.
