Simoncelli lacks only maturity and experience. Once he settles, learns to push when there is need to push, and that a race is not won in the first ten laps, he'll be lightning.

ONCE THAT HAPPENS, imagine a Repsol team with him and Stoner. Dominance personified. It's so fun to daydream.

He is consistantly fast in an era where there is serious competition.

I am very impressed by him this year.

I would not want to share a track with him, but you have to give him credit for the speed.

I think he has massive potential and am hoping he will mature into a great racer.

Anyone remember when Lorenzo crashed nearly every race trying to find the limit of himself and the bike. This is exactly the same situation. He pushes the bike to it's limit. This is what makes champions. You cant expect someone to just float about not trying to push the limit and expect to win races. Next year he will be a top contender for the championship. You can see that by his timings. He is faster than most of the field.

re: "A fast crasher can be taught not to crash and still be fast but a slow rider who does not crash will still be slow."

i'm a subscriber. unfortunately, wet conditions can rubbish even the best theories. all bets are off.

Simoncelli is not riding for teh championship, so he can crash as much as he wants. Personally i think, and hhope, he doens t get a podium ever.
Ben is twice the rider simo is. Lorenzo and Stoner will come correct on race day. But hey , Simo may floor everyone n fron t of him and get a win. That s the way he s been doing for the last couple of years.

There is no proof yet that Simo can be a serious title contender this year or any time soon.

He has so far managed some very quick qualy laps and excited casual fans. But he has not once been able to put together a race long creditable performance in 2011.

He is a 250 WC and knows how to put a run together to secure a world title. but in MotoGP he is no threat anytime soon for the MotoGP establishment.

He needs to relax and let a race come to him, its all about racecraft.
