Rawdawg, when are you going to learn you can't teach blind men to see? Even if Cal doesn't get a pole, two podium finishes, and finish the season in 6th place, there will be those who will say he's exceeded what Spies did his first year...

Don-R, I had an intriguing thought that perhaps both Cal and Colin were given orders to slow down and let Jorge come through for the points... team orders?
I still recall vividly the 'let Broc bye' sign shown to Bob "Hurricane" Hannah back in the early 80's. LOL

yup, still rider of the decade (ROTD) on the strength of a single season. this, for those with more than just a superficial understanding of the technical nuances and hurdles of racing (cheerleaders need not apply). not even ROSSI has accomplished this. someone succeeding with the best kit...? best support...? on tracks they've ridden for more than a decade...? against talent they've known for more than a decade...? well that figures...? for some anyway. dare i add to his '09 tally that he "steam-rolled" BOTH wsbk AND gp veterans (ie. jerks he's never seen before) on his way victory...? biaggi, checa, haga, xaus, corser, toseland, etc. hell, spies didn't even like flying prior to crossing the pond...!? LOL

cont: ben basically showed up in europe armed with nothing more than TOM, his MOM, and a #10 can o' "whoop ass". last time that occured was 2 decades prior ('78) with some random guy named "roberts"...? :)

re: "i think jorge's starting to be nervous about his jorge now"

i assure you he is not. even with spain's real estate economy in tatters, he holds the better passport. plus there's a petition circulating over potential tax issues regarding "circuito de estados unidos". despite what you may have heard, austin is NOT a slam-dunk. if anything (now that his gap to casey has widened) he's hoping that the team will allow ben to start "assisting" him in his title defense. you do realize yamaha and lorenzo are engaged in a title defense and that goal supercedes any and all other considerations right...?

if there are any here who do more than just pay "lip-service" to the sport and actually VALUE the niche business of motorcycling (and it's sub-niche of racing)...? sign the petition...

ok ill eat my words... crutchlow has impressed me way more than i ever thought he would. i give him respect but it should also be pointed out that he has a way better bike under him than tech 3 had last year. hate to sound like im taking credit away from him but unless he podiums i cant help but credit it to him riding what is essentially last years championship winning package
