Why do the same few, KTMKen etc, have to always lower the tone in Spies' threads? Just enjoy that our guy had a great race today.

Anyway, Spies did well, i knew he'd take a win this season. Hopefully he can keep this up and get a few more.

ben had a great race today. he has now shown he can run at the front. The next step is to prove he can be there consistently like the best. Its all well and good winning a race on a track that suits the yamaha and one that he likes, but the key to winning titles is having the ability to win, or at least be up at the front, on all the tracks. Blowing hot and cold is no good at all. Lets hope that he can now prove that this win was not a one off. Fingers crossed.

Rides of the day has to go to Spies, Lorenzo, and Crutchlow, in any order.

Spies for a great race on a track he loves and knows well, riding the M1 on the limit. Lorenzo for a great comeback from last place, embarrassing many riders ln his way through. Crutchlow for showing he had the pace to run in 4th, if not for the mechanical issue he had. And all that with a shattered collar bone less than 2 weeks ago!

Full credit to all 3!!!!!!!!!!

Only 3 things i would like to say...

1. It is good to see our flag being raised and the anthem being played again! ( there's more to come)
2. Spies is now officially the 5th aliean! ( not marco )
3. Is there any doubters out there? ( come out come out where ever you are)

Vonich......

Ermmm, no. One win with 6 other poor/mediocre performances, with 50% of those resulting in him ending up on his ar$e does not make him the '5th Alien' at all.

You see, i dont dislike Spies, i actually quite like him and want him and Marco/Dovi/Rossi to challenge the top guys, its just the attitudes of his fans that let Spies down. Just like the previous comments above claiming that Spies is 'officially the 5th alien'. The 'Aliens' have earnt their status. Spies has earnt this win, but is a long long way off being the '5th Alien'. LOL!

Emmmm... "one win 6 other poor/performances" Well that tell you that you either blind pr just plain hater. the other 6 he finished 6th in qatar and 3RD/PODIUM in catalunya. jeres he was riding good and was second when he crashed 2 laps to the chekered flag. estoril clamp was left the his crew dangling that affects his concertration during the race. That is not poor/mediocre perfromance. I call that misfortune. Le mans no yamaha is working well like they thought it will be. ok blame him for that. silverstone just like many other he crashed due to the weather difficulties. maybe you can blame him for that too or maybe not. You see those DNF's that he have half of those are came from misfortune rather than poor performance. Anyway i could careless about him being the 5th alien. I said that to tease people here that hate his guts for whatever reason. By the way i like the sound of spies being the lone predetor ready to mix it up with the alien rather tahn being part of the 4 alien.

Southerner.

I just came home from work and fired up my MythTV. Yes, breaking the duck is tremendous boost, Stoner went for championship instead of win-or-bin. The only reason for him to go and race Spies would have been to deny this confidence boost Spies has got now.
Gee, I hope this makes this championship more entertaining.

PS. Is Simoncelli on Rossi paycheck?

Name one other rider to beat Stoner this year on equal footing by 7 seconds. One. Know why you can't? Cause there isn't one. On equal footing he's been a few seconds adrift but not 7 seconds. He also won a race before Torpedocelli did and they're roughly equal in terms of time in MotoGP. If you think Ben won't win another you're deluded. He didn't get to MotoGP by being an also ran. He's got plenty of time as champion both at world and national level. He's got plenty more wins in him and one day a title. Whether or not he gets more than one is not something I'd attempt to say but he will get one.

rotsa ruck,

in my book Mladin is good and crazy, but aging. Spies did not have easy times beating him.
Sorry, but I do not think Spies is going to emerge as a winner from now on.
He got away from start and Stoner did not consider him as a threat to championship.
I certainly welcome one more rider contending for podiums from now on, this victory definitely gave Spies the confidence boost he needed badly. Nothing wrong with that. :)

Ben Spies is a terrific motorcycle racer, his record of AMA and World Champiponship Superbike wins attests to that. In 2009, on tracks he'd never seen, let alone raced on before, he won 14 races, on a motorcycle he had never raced before the season started, and on tyres he'd never used before. In 2010, Crutchlow & Toseland were an ambarrassment. Could not manage their tyres to last a race (well, maybe three times they did). Now Spies is showing the same maturity & intelligence that won him those SWC races, and he will win more races in MotoGP. Great to see. Now, someone tell Crutchlow how to set up a motorcycle, for goodness sake! Same tyres, similar bike, and look what he does! Stupid.
