After both Ducati and Honda pulled the plug on running their 2012 bikes in the post-Mugello test a week today, MotoGP's third major player Yamaha has now followed suit

It will be interesting to see what kit Tech 3 get next year. if the factory team if this far behind, it makes you wonder if tech 3 will struggle next year, or will they do their own developement ??

I think both Honda and Yamaha are being smart, why show Ducati their hand this early and at Mugello.

Honda are well sorted for 2012 as I'm sure Yamaha will be. I think it possibly shows how comfortable they are with their own testing not the reverse.

It will be Ducati who are worried as the front end problem rears its ugly head once more with the new found extra rear grip in Assen.

Maybe Yamaha and Honda are going to take a leaf out of Ducati's book and build 2012 bikes with 800 motors ?

I think there is more to this than they are letting on.

Cheers.

This whole 2012 bike testing has been made a joke by Ducati & Dorner. Rossi ran the 2012 bike at Assen with an 800cc piston & sleeve this means that they Ducati & Rossi have tested the 2011 MotoGP bike outside 2011 testing rules and have been allowed to get away with it. Yes manufacturers can bring new parts for bikes during a season but must only have been tested by test riders not MotoGP riders. I am amazed that the other manufacturers have not put in a protest unless there is a major conspiracy within the sport to get Rossi & Ducati up the front. All this is could be because Rossi became an embarrassment as soon as he put his leg over a bike Stoner could win on.

@ Dave

Ducati have not infringed the rules they have merely introduced a new frame midway through the season, we may all know its what they may well be running next year buts its within the rules

What about Stoner than ? If I compare Vale's 2012 bike with the 800cc version you see there are some big difference, for example the second exhaust and long tail. Yet I didn't see one difference beteween Casey's 800cc bike and 1000cc bike that he tested in Jerez.

Honda did made a protest! But like I said, but at least there was a difference between the 800 vs the 1000 version of the Ducati, I couldn't see any between the Repsol Honda.

What if Stoner was testing his 800cc bike and claims that they were testing the 1000cc bike. Honda is known for there shady decisions they make in Motogp and get away with it easily.

Accept that Vale and Burgess are good developers and especially with Preziosi on their side. What they did in Assen was a smart move, and Rossi was right, the previous developer of Ducati was crap! Stoner had 3 years and he didn't produced nothing. Rossi just had a few months with the Ducati and look how far he is right now.

Honda need to watch there back before t

Even if Ducati unleash the other 200cc on this bike I still doubt they are as fast as a current 800 Yamaha or Honda. All season, Rossi never finished so far back from the winner as at Assen. Where it would normally be below 20seconds it is now 30.

Honda and Yamaha must be pissing themselves from laughing.

Looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same, so much for the brilliant developer. Burgess will retire this year a broken man.

"With three GP11 machines in front of him on the grid, Rossi said he was regretting his decision to switch to the new bike, which is effectively next year's GP12 machine fitted with this year's 800cc Desmosedici motor."

He added: “I don't think this is the answer because the problem in the front is similar to the old bike and this is the problem that gives us a disadvantage compared to the other guys.
