I wouldn't go there either. Simple exposure to radiation isn't the threat...it's the vast amount of airborne radioactive "hot" particles shot into the jet stream when reactors 1 & 3 exploded that can be inhaled. These are EXTREMELY dangerous. If you get hot particles in your body (radioactive contamination as opposed to exposure) there is no way your immune system can fight the continual release of radiation, killing surrounding cells and almost certainly leading to a slow death. I'm no scientist, but I know enough to stay VERY FAR AWAY when you see THREE nuclear meltdowns & two reactor detonations!!

Poor reporting Crash.

Stoner has been a long time advocate of NOT holding the Japanese GP on moral and ethical grounds and it's actually extremely principled of him to stick to his guns even if points are at stake.

Well done young man, you do your sport proud!

Pathetic Crash, looking for the cheap headline again without making any attempt to convey the whole story.

From the Foreign Office website:-
We advise against all travel to within a 60km radius of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility with the exception of transit through the area via the Tohoku Expressway and the Tohoku Shinkansen Railway. The Tokyo Metropolitan area and Narita airport lie outside this zone.

i said from the very beginning, there's no way motegi will happen this year (likely not for several years). reschedule it all they want. it's radiation and if ever there was something that constitutes a "deal breaker"...? by God that would be it. the japanese power company is notorious for not telling the whole truth. the situation, as unfortunate as it is, is epicly FUBAR. :( 9.0 quake...? tsunami...? then as if the first 2 weren't bad enough, we add NUCLEAR DISASTER...? that's a "bermuda triangle". regular coverage may have fallen out the news, but rest assured things there have gotten worse, not better. we're just not being told.

re: "Say one of the scientists messed up and the water was more contaminated than they thought"

and this nightmare scenario ALREADY happened there about 2 weeks in. and this is just the incident we've been TOLD.

Smart decision, glad to see the pilots are not mindless automatons... If Dorna wants a race so badly, just change the venue...

The representative Dorna sent to investigate the situation, was not a radiation expert, nor does he know what to look for if the information was right in front of his face...

During the first gulf war, the US used weapons with depleted uranium and injected their soldiers with an anthrax vaccine in case of biological warfare... The geniuses that signed off on those decisions doomed the US soldiers deployed to that theatre... Many returned to their homes sick, in what eventually became known as Gulf War Syndrome... "Syndrome," named as such, because the government did not want to admit they were poisoned...

In this case, we have the source of a nuclear leak radiating the surrounding land and water...
