@ TheFamousEccles

Lets not forget that these 2 guys are employed by Japanese companies that pay them damn well, & part of their job is to visit Japan for at least 5 days a year to race & do promo work.

These primadonnas are arrogant enough to say "we're happy for thousands of Japanese families & workers to be there in the middle of this 'dangerous area' so that we can have a job racing motorcycles, but we wont come do out job even though its been declared safe by a range of different experts".

Both of them would have been the 1st to whine if their contracts had been terminated as a result of the quake, but the manufacturers help up their part of the commitment. Time for the riders to do the same.

I spent a lot of time working in an island chain that was a nuclear test site. My boss died of cancer at 58.

It is not the background radiation that you have to worry about. Inhaling radioactive particles that travel with the wind is a problem. They stay in your lungs and get you later on. I have been lucky (so far but it has been only 15t years since my last exposure) but I would not reccomend it for my family.

These guys take enough risks with their own lives. They should not have to expose other people to risk.
Good on them for standing up for themselves. This is not a stand against Japan. I would not expect Chernoble to win an Olympic bid.

"A petition regarding concerns over the Motegi race had already been handed to MotoGP officials.

It is said to contain the names of 16 of the 17 MotoGP riders (not Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama) and "90 percent" of the Moto2 riders. "

So basically, all the guys in Motogp don't want to go to Montegi but Crash decided to try and make out it's only Stoner and Lorenzo with that headline. Lousy!

no dummy it was discussed in the QP press conference. The conference is over 27 minutes long and it's obvious most of the girlie riders are following of what the other rider says without concrete data. The last question asked was if the decision still stands even without data test, and the girls said yes. If I was a Japanese company like HRC I would cut my losses like suzuki did with just having one rider on the paddock. I would say F motogp and let them fork the bill. Without the Japanese supported companies you wouldnt have development. It would be another WSBK.

Do we actually know whether they don't want to go due to the radiation, or due to the fact that having a race in a place that's had such a tragedy would be bad taste?

If the latter, than my opinion would be that this is what they do for a living, and by being there, they'd be helping the local merchants, hotels, etc.

They aren't after all, going there to dance or something, but to do their job. Putting on the show is a great way for them to stand behind their "With you, Japan" stickers.

If there was even a single report stating it was unsafe then I would agree with them.

But, there isn't.

I'm sorry your boss died at almost 60 of cancer. People die of cancer everyday. If. He was 20 and died then you would have a point.

But, you don't.

They are chicken poo for not going when there have been multiple other races at the track before them.

None have come back "sterilized and glowing" you bunch of fear mongers.

Grow a pair of your own before you comment on other peoples "pair".
