The 1000cc Honda has gone quicker than Dani's fastest lap on the 800cc Honda at the weekend... Nicky is making an improvement, Rossi hasn't improved since this morning. Can't wait to see the 1000's next season.

Remember how Casey crashed a lot in 06 on the 990?
Was he ever seriously injured?

I can't remember him ever having any big injuries, so don't speak too soon about him wiping the floor with everyone next year...

First time his throttle sticks open and he has a big crash that unshakeable confidence will take a hit.
And when he has a baby at home?
Casey has awesome bike control but also benefits from an attitude of 100% commitment.
If he loses faith or commitment he will lose his edge.

Jorge has had big injuries, so has Dani, so has Vale. They'll give 99% whereas Casey gives 100%. That's the extra 0.5 second per lap...
..and that can go.

Where were all these Rossi slayers when he was winning???

Anyway, just some interesting facts to keep in mind:

1-Stoner has had more experience in the 1000cc prototype than Pedrosa, Spies or Lorenzo

2-Spies outshone Lorenzo during most of winter testing

Don't get carried away just yet. All the 2012 bikes have still a lot of development to go through, even the Ducati, and the riders have plenty of time ahead to adapt to them. Too soon to call favorites to the 2012 title.

@ King Kenny

I think you will find Stoner and Pedrosa have had the same amount of time on a 1000 (06) who can forget Pedrosa spearing Nicky Hayden at Estoril

And Yeah even as a Stoner fan it is far to early to can favorites or who is going to win.....lets deal with this year first

Also I really do hope the Duck is much better this year and that Suzuki bring a 1000 and some commitment

Does anyone know if there old 990 fits to the new 1000 rules (piston sizing?)

If anything the yamaha looks to have the best bike! with the two yamahas between stoner and pedrosa it would suggest its just stoner getting that little bit extra out of the bike as always! early days though!

Since this is a 1000cc test, it's more interesting about rider's directions than anything else. Stoner and Dovizioso choose the same chassis for their 800cc different than Pedrosa and Simoncelli. After 1st half of 2011 season, the results show Stoner and Dovi on the right path. Both of them could share data to strengthen their positions for the 2nd half of the season.

But now Honda only had 2 development riders for 2012 instead of 4. Stoner and Pedrosa had slightly different preferences for their bike. Pedrosa definitely has a vague directions due to his constant mistakes in his race craft. Stoner experiences on the wild beast Desmosedici screamer already help him gelled with the 1000cc.

Lorenzo seem faster on 800cc than on 1000cc. While Spies return to his 2nd nature. I think Lorenzo had a difficulty to adapt to the bigger 4-stroke for a while.
