Ben shouldnt be fighting in this race, he should have been leading it. But Ben always making it harder for himself, he needs to launch that start right otherwise he'll be doing a lot more fighting down the road.

An excellent display of riding. Shows that if not for some unforeseen incidents, he might have been able to challenge the top two for the race. Sorry for him, but made for some interesting viewing for us in the cheap seats. Shows what he's capable of and why Yamaha signed him.

It was shame he didn't get it going from the start but we did get to see one of the best rides of the year. Not often do we see riders going from 9th to 3rd in the dry especially without anyone falling off in front.

Jorge looked like a real noob outbraking himself and almost crashing when Spies went by. The faces in the Yamaha pit were priceless! He obviously didn't have the pace and should have just let him go without risking a silly fall. I was a little surprised because he is experienced enough to know that. He can't afford to toss any points away with Stoner pulling away and Dovi not too far behind him.

Spies has plenty to be happy about after that performance. He had a crap start and did a super job of carving his way back through the field. And they did not make it easy for his either!
Would he have been able to beat Stoner even with a better start?
No,i dont thik so but the gap between him and Pedro may have been closer.

I think he could have battled with Pedrosa, but not Stoner who was in a class of his own.

It was an excellent fight back, but a strange race because a lot of riders had setup problems - that definietely helped Ben pick up more places than normal.

@RawDawg: Jorge didn't look like a noob outbraking himself, Jorge had to brake too hard because Spies ran wide overtaking him and braked in Jorge's trayectory. Just watch it again. It was a fair and clean overtaking, but this guys race near the limit and sh1t is bound to happen sometimes.

By the way, that was Yamaha's team orders for you all.

Great race by Ben. He needs to improve the starts and first laps before he can contend for the title, but he'll get there.

So Dovizioso going around the outside of Spies on the first lap causing Spies to have an out of the seat moment is ok yet when Simo went around the outside of Pedrosa at Le Mans thats not ok (because Pedrosa panicked and dropped the bike) and he gets a ride-through penalty.

Unlike Pedrosa Spies didn't panick and drop the bike and just got on with the job at hand, and that's why Spies stands a chance of being world champ in the future and not Pedrosa - Spies is willing to take the rough with the smooth.

decent ride by spies, but looks nowhere near a title contender anytime soon that was likely his best shot for a win, looks like another edwards in gps, definately light years from alien stoner
