Raw,
The commentators were saying during the race that with the rear at least, the soft was lasting longer than the hard. This was because the hard was graining more.

I guess they thought it was worth a shot, and they didn't have much to lose anyway.

the truth is agonising. - Unregistered

This just goes to show how desperate things are in the Ducati camp.How in hell did they think a soft tire was going to last the whole race?
They are now clutching at straws.All is lost for them i fear and next season will be the same.

"You can't make the hard front tire last but a few laps so you go with the soft front.

Brilliant problem solving there Nicky/Ducati."

@pcxmac

Well, since I'm a "no-clue keyboard warrior" than help me out.

Since you are "full of clue", please enlighten us on how many times have you seen the solution for a wearing hard front tire that won't last but a few laps be going to even a softer front tire that degrades just as quick if not quicker? Because when it comes to answering that, I am clueless.

Usually a soft front is used in cooler conditions or you have a set up that's spot on that can make the tire last or you can't get hear into the tire. The conditions weren't cool, tire temperature wasn't the problem, and the set up was ripping up the hard front.

@Jackbee

greenenvy's comment is referring to the rear tire - I'm "clueful" enough the difference between the front and rear tires. Do you?

If a soft front was the answer than why was Nicky the only one on it? Because it wasn't the answer.

The rear tire takes most it's abuse from acceleration while the front takes the abuse from turn in and braking. Just because the soft rear was lasting doesn't mean anything about the front.

Another priceless moment by Hayden and Ducati, more like it to me was that Ducati insisted he go with the soft front to put him behind their 7 time world champ.

Can't have Nicky in front can we, Rawdawg is completely correct, NO TEAM went the soft front, it would never last FULLSTOP.

They had all free practice to work that out, a no brainer. One wonders about his intelligence though, he pushed really had for a number of laps early only adding to the degradation which he would of also known from free practice where they can do near race distance simulations.....pathetic really.
