Cal Crutchlow arrives in Japan on a wave of confidence after his strong showing against Valentino Rossi at Motorland Aragon.

I don't think anybody is really making too much of the Rossi thing, despite the headline. It was just a good solid ride from Cal that indicated some real progress as a MotoGP rider.

I wouldn't be surprised though if the recent fortunes of the Tech 3 riders were reversed this weekend. Colin went really well here last year, beating Spies to finish 5th, while Motegi is one of those stop-and-go circuits with heavy braking points that have given Crutchlow problems this year. If he can again show the level of confidence he had in Aragon, then maybe the setup/front end problems really are over with.

Engine performance from the Tech 3 bikes could again be an issue for both though. Esp. on that 6th-gear back straight.

eh? read the article again mr spilligan Cal says nothing about beating rossi, that's just CRash adding their bit in. All he says is that he learnt a lot from racing with him. Fair enough, he probably did even if rossi was on knackered tyres!

Well well well, goes to show how every rider loves the opportunity to tussle with the master......... Shows how they all understand he is the true G.O.A.T!

He only "battled" with Rossi because the Ducati is a wounded pig. Let's see him do that again when the Ducati is healed.

Man...... why do people jump straight to bashing?

It was a good ride from Crutchlow at a circuit he wasn't familiar with. Considering that and the lack of power, good result. May only be 9th, but it shows progress.

The fact he was battling Rossi and beat him says more about Rossi's current situation than Crutchlow.
