MotoGP » Checa to test GP12 for Ducati?

The Spaniard would be the ideal solution for Ducati in its efforts to maintain a consistent development curve on the GP12.

In 2007 Ducati were well ahead of the game, thanks to a superfast engine hanging from an aluminum twin spar frame and a top rider piloting the beast.

Honda and Yamaha, with all the resources available to them consider aluminum twin spar frames to still be the way forward, with ducati only dropping further behind since deciding to persue carbon frames using the engine as a stressed member.

It's good too see a different approach, it worked with their engines, but being different for the sake of it, isn't the way forward.

Time to admit they are wrong and give the riders what they need, not token gestures of an aluminum front frame etc...

Checa: Too slow to develop a bike

Baylis: Same as checa, in motogp he did nothing.

Ducati needs to put on Rossi some custome, paint the bike in black, everybody wear casual clothes and go to test on a place nobody knows...

That's the only way to develop a bike these days when the regulations are made to avoide development. And lets face it, there is no crisis, that's just an excuse to the biggest companies to crush some small ones like ducati or suzuki.

bad news guy. rossi broke his finger at motegi and won't be able to test at jerez tomorrow in ducati 's last day testing allowances. nicky hayden will deputise in rossi 's absence and will test the deltabox aluminium . however rossi should be fine for next week race at phillip island

Checa suffered arm pump last time he rode a ducati.
Vito ok'ed the carbon fibre.
Bayliss won one motogp ?
See where this is going.
Ducati need motogp riders to test motogp bikes.
Tests should be allowed for all teams whenever they want.
Give them as much fuel as they want and any tires they want.
Or perhaps go the moto 2 route as i posted earlier.
Perhaps then we will get some decent fairing bashing, rubber swapping racing instead of formula one type processions.
The rules are suffocating motogp.
Just my humble opinion.
With no stoner bashing !

during all the "should checa test or shouldnt he...." talk, rossi gets diagnosed with broken finger, misses the last and obviously most important day of testing, making this whole message board pretty insignificant in comparison...

If it's still the framless bike it'll still be cr4p, doesn't matter who's on it..
Will Presiozi finally bit the bullet and admit there might actually be something wrong with his design Probably not but Ducatis racing heritage is on a knife edge they could well be out of it marlboro are certainly fed up. Design a bike within the rules and get on with racing doofass.
At motogp pace Carlos would be chuca again..

The ducati, since it's inception into MotoGP has always used the engine as a stressed member and it NEVER used a twin spar system.

The 2007 machine, line all of the others, used an upper subframe where the triples were connected into a headstock mounted on the engine using a trellis style frame.

Is Rossi ruining a futuristic bike? a motorcycle without a frame. That 2007 flying machine doesn't seem a million miles away from the gp11,swing arm off the back of the motor, engine has the stressed member. The only year it hasn't won is in 2011,Casey struggled with it last year until he got the 48mm forks and then it started winning again. There is a possibility that Rossi has taken the only advantage what the small Ducati team had and threw it in the bin, point is,out of all the modification VR and JB have done the bike is no faster.Any way, I do think it's a bad idea putting Carlos on it, maybe they should have give the test to Barbera or karel.
