"Stoner could easily surpass what I've done, and perhaps even Valentino Rossi" – Mick Doohan.

Reading is fundamental, you know. He said "easily surpass" regarding his own GP record and he used PERHAPS regarding Vale's record. PERHAPS, meaning there is some possibility. It is not hard and true fact. Then some of you reduce Doohan's career to rubbish because he has praise for Stoner. According to some of you Stoner really has no racing skill at all. What does that say about the rest of the field? About my Valentino who can barely get a podium on the Ducati?

There IS a possibility but will it happen? Who knows? Amazing how many of you can actually tell the future! Some of you profess to know Stoner's state of mind as in he is going to pack it in soon because he wants to spend time with his family, etc., etc. How do you know his ambitions and state of mind? Dovi is 25 and a family man and still is racing strong.

If anyone needs a good soothsayer, I'll tell them to come to Crash.net.

I am Rossi fan but some of these comments are ridiculous.

there will be those who say he will.

there will be those who say he wont.

myself, i say he wont, he will set some records, however
he will never classed at the G.O.A.T

except for the Stoner fans who already claim he is this
are living in a fantasy world.

Stoner is the best rider on the grid but i don't think he'll beat Rossi's record.

Had he gone to Yamaha Rossi would have at least 1 maybe 2 less titles and in all likelihood Stoner would be going for his 4th this year.

In a strange way Rossi blocking him from going him Yamaha has made him a legend, especially now with Rossi going and failing on the Ducati.

The Myth of the G.O.A.T has being exposed by Rossi himself.

We have a new King and he's a boring little guy with a buck tooth grin who rides a motorcycle like he stole it from the devil himself.

yes pigs fly and
DOOHAN also forgot one thing, Rossi is only 32 years old so his record may still be in the making.

Come on you people start to write garbage ,like lulu ect. ect.

"Easily surpass" - he has the talent but the competition now is fierce unlike some 8 years ago. i expect a max of 3 world titles but can get as many wins as doohan.

Hi ty,

Just my opinion, you might be right with 3 world titles. My guess would be 2 championships. However, I would say that the competition of the "good old days" were more brutal and fearsome compared to today's. It's just that people like doohan, rossi, surtees, or lawson made it look easy. Japanese riders of yesteryear were just as cruel (although they never won championships). Remember laguna seca 2007 when stoner complained about valentino's riding, doohan said that during his time unsafe maneuvers and life-threatening skirmishes happened every weekend and every race. Just my observation.

"could", "perhaps", very important words in the context of MD's comment. Some need to look them up cos you don't seem to understand.
In a direct comparison while the two are racing against each other even including the 3rd tier 990 of 2006, Stoner is clearly a better skilled, faster and more exciting rider than Rossi.
Actually, than Rossi EVER has been, and makes his number of titles so ho hum and questionable.
