"We know race distance around here is a long, hard day, but that's why you put in the time doing the training. Hopefully we can have a good race tomorrow and have some fun" - Nicky Hayden.

@daddyrat

All that pals act stuff between Jorge and stoner is just baloney. All that was about was the fact that they had a common enemy in Valentino...they basically wanted to smash Rossi on the track, but Rossi didn't roll over and gave them as hard a time as possible in trying to do it. Nothing wrong in that just shows a good competitive spirit all round. Rossi didn't really say or do much out of line, but he did manage to get under their skin . I just say fair play to Rossi for adding a bit of spice to it.(Like Jeff Woad would before he was going to rip your head off!) What else can Jorge say now when he's getting whipped by Stoner, he has to suck it up and take the medicine. Maybe if these two were racing closer all year there may have been a few incidents that might have sparked off a bit of controversy.

@ Roston Sponge

Yeah I just loved that Rossi comment after the race at Laguna when Casey had been whining and he was on the musch faster bike that year, and Rossi said : " well I a say to 'im, if 'ee a agree to no overtake me on the straight, I will not a overtake 'im in the a the corner" ... classic...at least old Vale brings a sense of humour and a sense that he is enjoying himself massively when racing (ok not this year much!)unlike a lot of the others who are always moaning...Casey moans even when he wins, Jorge is only happy when he wins, when he doesn't he gets in a huff... at least Vale always but on a smile for the cameras and a bit of interaction no matter what was happening (even in an awful season like this he manages a smile sometimes)

Third race for this engine since Rossi started from the pit lane,IT is at the end of its shelf life,will Rossi take a new engine today or leave it to Vamencia, then take the pit lane penalty?

Good job Nicky, you've always been a class act and a good teammate to your fellow competitors. Although you are no longer on the best bike given, its nice to see that you continue to try your best.

That Laguna race was a great battle..... It was just a shame that Vale had to resort to going out of the track at the corkscrew to make the pass stick and push Casey wide to get the gap. There was a line..... vale crossed it with that pass..... Otherwise was an awesome battle. Rossi has had an awesome career and it would be good for MotoGP for him to be competitive, but I agree with others that it is his prior attitude to others and arrogance that is coming back to bite him now.....

Its all about nurture, all of the aliens had the natural talent. When Rossi came up through the GP ranks he was the chosen one who had the best of everything and could do no wrong.

Stoner was the outsider who came through with 2 top Spanish riders, didn't get the best equipment or support and had to work hard to make up any differences these attributes afford. That upbringing has built a demeanor that is all business and taught him to develop skills that other riders don't have.

I even look at Marquez as a clone of the Rossi of old and he may not be able to compete with Stoner and JLo but at least with youth he will certainly give it more of a go than Rossi is willing to.
