Its pretty obvious that although deserving, Edwards is not going to ride a works 2011 Yamaha or much less a 2012 1000cc model now that he is signed to BMW-Suter. However much Yamaha love him he is 2 races away from being the 'enemy'.

This is a tragedy. At PI, he was able to qualify 7th after the crash, now he is one from last. Hope he gets on well soon, but this championship couldn't have a worse end for Yamaha.

Poor's the right decision to avoid further injury due to likely crash during the race. I assume he's bummed and frustrated not only because of his injuries, but will not be allowed to participate in the 1000cc test. GET Well Ben!

@fatfisheye (re: 5th or 6th final standings)
Technically you're correct.

However, Spies did finish last year in 6th so if finishes this year in 6th or 7th on a Factory Bike then the haters will be out in full force.

Steve929, nice twist there and you make a lot of sense. Ben is already a little behind expectations as he was touted by many to finish much higher, displace Lorenzo and even challenge for the title.

In my mind Spies is a great rider and a super welcome addition to the series regardless of whether he finishes 5th or 7th.

@ fastfisheye, Steve929

Plus at the start of the year he said his target is to be in the top 5 of the championship. He takes his steps very precisely and seriously, so I think he would done everything to not be beaten by Simoncelli.

I guess Ben was much more realistic than the majority of his fans. And Yeah, definately would suck to be beaten by Sic. All things considered Ben has the better 2011 results in my mind, but it ain't over yet and Spies is now on the back foot.
