@give him a break - It would be a small but worthwhile tribute to Simoncelli if posters really do change and show LASTING respect for all riders. A lot of people have made comments along the lines of "Nobody is really dead until they are forgotten and we will always remember you!", so let's see if we can make that tribute permanent. There's nothing wrong with having critical opinions of riders. Simoncelli's loss shows how strongly we feel, despite not really knowing them, be they our "heroes" or "villains". Saying Terol/Marquez has the best machinery, is fair comment, but the attitude of some 'fans' is like WWF wrestling or football where it's all about seeing their chosen 'bad guys' humiliated instead of appreciating the sport. Look how few comments there are on 125/Moto2 threads despite the equally brilliant displays of skill. The innuendo and even undisguised comments about Rossi's sexuality, just because he has some friends, (such as Sic himself), who aren't female, disgust me, and

Contd. -. The innuendo and even undisguised comments about Rossi's sexuality, just because he has some friends, (such as Sic himself), who aren't female, disgust me, and Crash has been guilty of letting them stand. I really hope this one small change for the better could come from our shared sense of loss as a permanent way of remembering what Marco gave for us.

It shows the arbitrary nature of the editing on Crash that the criticism I also made following that of the post left by the person who signed off as "murderer" was removed, despite not repeating the libel or being offensive in any way, (other than saying that I wouldn't dignify the perpetrators of such posts by calling them human beings). It illustrated that it was a forlorn hope that such people could show respect for riders even for as little as 48hrs.

Some posters on this sight must be lacking something in their lives to be full of such hate and spite. I think Rossi has been dignified in the circumstances. He accompanied Marco's father home with Marco's body, a very emotional journey i would think. I think he is probably quite angry about the retirement rumours, as he is aware that this is not as important as the death of his friend.

@motomoto - It's harsh to blame this on Parrish's speculative comments about his immediate gut reaction. The Spanish RTVE commentator, talking over the live video feed of images from the Ducati pit box, where Rossi was describing how the accident occurred with hand gestures to an equally distraught Capirossi, made the comments "End of carrier for Rossi." several times. That was mere minutes after the crash while the medical team were still fighting to save Simoncelli's life.

Valentino must be going through hell at the moment and I have never met the man but as a former racer I know that in his mind maybe for a split second was not to carry on but then thoughts as a racer and to his friend Marco out of respect to his fond memeory he would not allow himself to give it up.
