"For Marco, racing equalled happiness, which is a concept that I understand very well"-Ducati team manager Vittoriano Guareschi.”
Those are words which ring true with all of us.
I was watching race coverage as Marco's terrible crash took his life. Although I never knew him his death hit me and is still foremost on my mind. At first I could not understand why I should be so concerned about someone who I had never met, but the overwhelming volume of tributes since paid to #58 has shown that many other enthusiasts world-wide shared the same feelings. Marco was truly the heir apparent to the personality and eminence of Valentino, and was taken from us by a fatal Crash. Maybe this is the right place and the right time for us all to recognise that crashes are not entertainment, they are potential tragedies.
I hope others will support my suggestion that Crash(dot)net should consider changing their name, perhaps to Race(dot)net or something similar, as a lasting tribute to Marco and the void h
